OWNING A BAR & FILLING THE BAR STOOLS

So you own a bar, a small bar, it holds around 150 patrons and you go through the daily motions but your not making any money, when you take into account all the time, all the blood, all the sweat and all the tears you invest daily.
Your problem is, your just going through the motions.

WHAT YOU SHOULD BE DOING IS:

A. Reinvest The Money you make, don't take it out and spend it on luxuries or boats or cars.
Put the money back into the bar, so that you generate more income from what your adding.

B. Don't Follow The Pack of Bars, be unique, stand out, don't be one of many, be one of a kind.
That's been your problem, your the same as every other bar around you.

C. Never Just Sit Idle,
Stop Just Wallowing and wimping, and start thinking ahead.
If your just going to go through the motions of running a bar, then your just going to make enough cash to get by.

D. Always Know Up front what your signing, what you expect and what you are paying, clear and concise.
Always read the fine print, before signing, and if you have a problem with the language, don't sign it.

E. Keep Your Expenses In Check, stop listening to liquor salesmen tell you to feature this new brand or beer Reps urging you to carry another one of their beers.
You don't need to play roll the dice with liquor and beer, stick with what sells not what is new and unknown.

F. Don't Keep Pouring good money into a losing bar or club or grille or sports bar or lounge.
There comes a time, when you have to say "ENOUGH IN , NOTHING COMING OUT" and shut the taps off say GOOD-BYE.

G. Be Relentless, Stop listening to everyone who know nothing and don't even think about doing what they say.
You have to be the driving force behind, in front and on top of your bar or club or lounge or sports bar.
You have to be reliant on YOURSELF to get ur dun and pack this place.

H. You Have To change, you cannot stay stuck in a time warp, sure your walls have pictures of people and parties years gone by, that does not mean your bar should remain in a frozen mode.
Move on up, move on out and move on to the latest, the greatest, the hottest, the biggest.

I. Always be on top of what competing bars, clubs, lounges and sports bars are doing.
Never lay over and sleep, keep your eye on the ball, take their thunder and steal it.
Bring their patrons over to your place.
Be the first to do it, not the last to copy it.

J. Know When To ask for help.
You only have two hands, two eyes, two legs, and 24 hours, so in order to maximize your time, your energy and your efforts, call me.

SOUTH BEACH CLUB OWNER PANICS
Having been to "SOBE" over 100 times, the turnover in clubs down there, is alarming.
One of the main reasons for so many failures, is that Club Owners on "SOBE"
are so reliant, so dependent, so lost without a club promoter.
So many Owners have no clue how to attract the right crowd, they think by hiring a stranger, and making a deal with the devil, that they and their club will flourish.
This Club Owner takes over a very exclusive and beautiful Ultra Lounge, he
hires out of work bartenders, ( huge mistake) an out of work DJ, ( another major blunder), and then calls me to refer him to a club promoter?
The only problem is, I have made it known over and over and over in dozens of my Articles, I have no use, no respect, no need for club promoters.
They have destroyed so many clubs.
They have ruined so many Owners financially.
They have allowed male patrons to grope, and abuse female patrons.
They have created a climate of instability, inconsistency and ineffectiveness that clearly proves they are not needed.
This "SOBE" Owner said " But I don't know how to promote?"
My Response " LEARN".

IT SEEMS MICKEY AND NIGHT LIFE WERE NOT COMPATIBLE.
DISNEY WORLD CLOSED "PLEASURE ISLAND" IT'S MECCA OF
FANTASTIC LED LIGHTING, EXCELLENT ATMOSPHERE, HIGH ENERGY
GENRES OF MUSIC, AND COMFORTABLE SEATING, REVOLVING DANCE
FLOORS, IT'S ALL GONE, EVERY NIGHTCLUB ON PLEASURE ISLAND
HAS BEEN CLOSED TO MAKE ROOM FOR ARE YOU READY, MORE SHOPS AND RESTAURANTS.
NO MORE JAZZ, NO MORE COUNTRY, NO MORE OLDIES, NO MORE ROCK,
NO MORE HIGH ENERGY DANCE.
JUST WHAT DISNEY WORLD NEEDS IN THIS ECONOMY IS MORE PLACES TO SHOP THAT WILL STAND EMPTY AND MORE CHOICES TO DINE AT, THAT WILL SIT EMPTY, VOID OF PATRONS.
INSTEAD OF UPDATING, UPGRADING AND TAKING THIS OLD ISLAND OF
NIGHT LIFE AND REINVIGORATING IT, DISNEY OFFICIALS, THE "SUITS"
MADE THE POOR JUDGEMENT DECISION TO CUT AND RUN.
INSTEAD OF SURVEYING WHAT THE CURRENT STATE OF "THE FUN" AND "THE WOW FACTORS" ARE, DISNEY DUMMIES CHOSE TO LET "CITY WALK" AT UNIVERSAL STUDIOS AND ORLANDO'S THRIVING DOWNTOWN NIGHT
STREETS TAKE BACK THE SCENE. TAKE BACK THE REVENUE, TAKE BACK
THE PATRONS.
SOMETIMES I THINK MICKEY MOUSE HAD ONE TOO MANY CHEESE
MARTINIS............................................................................................


STOP RELYING SOLELY ON A MYSPACE SITE AS YOUR ONLY ONLINE ACCESS.
Your thinking behind simply going on the cheap, and instead of investing in your own club or bar site, you rely on myspace is costing you tens of thousands of dollars.
Myspace is great as a secondary site, not as your Primary source of reach, of marketing and of positioning on the net.
You for some reason have no faith, interest or insight to see that a simple Myspace site with pictures and copies of flyers is over done, over looked and over with.
A good web site must have key elements to it, they must be the basis for the Site creating "HITS" and "VISITS".
Far too many Owners simply ignore their Main Site, never understanding the significance of updating their site on a regular basis.
You want the BEST OF THE BEST in web hosting, design, and service, go to www.parrcomm.com  and talk to the Pros.
They are reliable, dependable, professional and creative.
You can always tell the lame Bar and Club Sites, when they have month old content still up on the site.
When a Bar or Club or Restaurant does not realize the importance of maintaining an updated and constant evolving Site full of "THE FUN" and "THE WOW FACTORS", they are doing a great disservice to their establishment as well as losing thousands of dollars.

SECURITY NEEDS TO BE LOW KEY, PROFESSIONAL AND ABLE TO DEFUSE A SITUATION ASAP.
The days of big, oversized, huge neck I dislike this word " Bouncers" is over with.
You want the best insurance possible at the lowest premiums available that is why "Baldinger Insurance Services" are the answer, I don't get paid a penny to recommend anyone, but when I do, it's because they are the Stand Out of their Industry.
When you perceive security as a necessary evil and you place the wrong people, with the wrong attitudes in charge of keeping the peace and providing a safe environment for your employees and guests, you slowly chase away the foundation of your customer base, in addition you create a major negativity factor in your Community.
The nights of black T-shirts with "SECURITY" on them are done with.
Your Bar, and your Club need to come of the New Thinking In Security Age.
But you would rather still employ muscle bound, quick temper, sloppy dressed individuals as the civility in your establishment.
How wrong you are
Your Staff should wear nice collared long sleeve button down shirts in solid colors that simply say "HOST" on the front of them.
NO MORE "SECURITY", NO MORE "BOUNCER" NO MORE DOOR MAN", NO MORE "STAFF". NO MORE!

MY RESPONSE:

A Trade Magazine Asks "Are your Guests drinking less, but the Top Shelf and Call Brands, or are your Guests drinking "THE WELL".
that choice of what your Guest drinks is up to you, not the guest.
It all is dependent upon what you are offering in the way of "THE FUN" and "THE WOW FACTORS"?
In this same publication some so called expert proclaims, "RAISE YOUR PRICES", WHY?
Right now "Home Depot" is lowering prices on 1200 items some as much as 50%, why?
Just like in retail, in these most challenging bar/club/hospitality/restaurant times, you don't create a negative on top of a negative, you take a negative and transform it into a positive.
There is still plenty of profit in Liquor, Beer, Wine, Cordials.
There are still many avenues of income from within your own establishment that you don't even realize exist.

HAVE YOUR BARTENDERS EVERY SINGLE NIGHT LINE UP EVERY SINGLE EMPTY LIQUOR, CORDIAL AND WINE BOTTLE ON THE BAR.
NOBODY THROWS AWAY A BOTTLE ANYMORE.
NOBODY MISPLACES AN EMPTY ANY LONGER.
DON'T PUT THE BOTTLES IN YOUR LOCKED LIQUOR ROOM UNLESS YOU HAVE A SPECIFIC AREA FOR EACH NIGHT'S EMPTIES.
YOU CAN MEASURE, YOU CAN WEIGH, YOU CAN LIMIT THE POUR, BUT WHEN YOU WANT THE FIRSTHAND VISUAL ON WHAT IS BEING POURED, NOTHING SHOWS IT MORE CLEARLY THEN THE EMPTIES RIGHT ON THE BAR, AT THE END OF THE NIGHT.
LOOK FOR YOURSELF AT WHAT IS BEING SOLD THAT NIGHT, HOW MUCH OF IT, AND WHO WAS WORKING THAT NIGHT.
SPEND ALL YOU WANT ON SAFEGUARDS, BUT I HAVE FOUND NOTHING LIES TO THE HUMAN EYE.
