BAR STAFF CARE MORE THAN OWNERS
Recently I had a DJ call me from a Club in Coral Gables, Florida.
He was very concerned about the direction the club he was spinning at, was
The Owner, was as usual stubborn and tight fisted, when it came to seeking
EXPERTISE to pack her club.
I hear from more dedicated, taken for granted, employees who realize that
their bar, their club, their lounge needs outside HELP.
Not Club or Bar Promoters, but EXPERTISE...............
THE CRY FOR HELP FROM A CLUB OWNER WHO WANTS TO FOLLOW THE PACK:
Help, here is what I have and what I am facing.
2 floors 500 people capacity.
I am having a problem with Friday Nights (just started it as a Latin/
hip hop) having problem drawing people the ones that do come leave.
Saturday is jammed packed (progressive music)
Sunday is packed (hip hop urban)
The DJs are great on Friday, the local nightclubs are now doing NO
COVER till midnight plus the first 4 drinks any drink on them. They
are jammed packed on Friday. Another club is doing NO Cover Fridays.
Both clubs are doing radio.
Your "Latin" format with "Hip Hop" added is a confusing mix of two
entirely separate genres of music.
How can you appeal to a "Latin" crowd, that likes to stay among their own
and party with their own, yet, at the same time, play "Hip Hop" and expect
the two entirely different segments of the population to coexist on one
Apparently the DJS being "GREAT" have no impact on the nights, now do
"No Cover" till midnight on Friday Nights is begging patrons to please
Of course you can't hold patrons, and those people that are coming in on
Friday Nights, are then leaving.
You are mixing oil and water together.
Then on Saturday Night you give the "Progressives" their own Night and
they pack your club, however, the only downside is they don't spend and
they do not tip either.
What good is a packed club on Saturday Nights,with patrons who are only
there for the music, and not to spend ?????
On Sundays, you go all "HIP HOP/URBAN" and you are packed.
Sure, your catering to that specific market and giving them exactly what
My question is, are you making any money?
You are concerned and alarmed at the other clubs offering free cover
charge, and in one club's promo, giving the first four drinks away for
free to each patron.
How much cash flow, how do you think their liquor costs are?
As for the Club with no cover Fridays, do you know why they have no cover,
they have no one in the club.
They are offering nothing, no "FUN", no "WOW FACTORS" to even warrant a
cover charge, it's Friday Night it should be fast and furious. instead
they "PANIC PROMOTE".

You add, the two other clubs are both running thirty second spots on
Radio is worthless.
Thirty Second Spots are about as relevant as Vanilla Ice.
Meaning they are worthless.
Why would any club buy thirty second radio spots, when they do not work?
Try to compare the cost of radio vs the gross revenue you take in directly
from radio spots and you show me where the spots are paid for?
They very rarely are.
HOW LONG CAN YOU LAST, OPERATING THE WAY YOU ARE?
Ask yourself that simple question?
How long can you offer a ladies Night with ladies drinking free, with
guys buying cheap beer, and with your liquor costs soaring while your
bartenders are overpouring?
If your not busy now, then when?
If your not attracting quality patrons now, then when?
If your not creating that "ENERGY" in your bar then when?
If your not jammed on Friday Night which is a "GIVEN" then when?
If your not hiring the right bartenders then when?
If your not the #1 place to party in your area then when?
If your not fixing or repairing worn out carpet, chipped paint,
old bar stools, disgusting rest rooms then when?
If your not decorating all out for the holidays, then when?
If your not promoting four weeks ahead of an event then when?

RETHINK, RETRENCH, RETOOL,YOUR BAR
Every bar owner, every club owner has to have a major wake up call.
TO STEP UP & STAND OUT instead of operating in denial.
Face it, what worked yesterday is not going to work tomorrow.
Your drink and beer discounting, your free drinks your free cover, your
same old DJ, your same old format, your same old atmosphere your same old
radio spots, your same old flyers, your same old DJT announcements are
just that, 'THE SAME OLD".
There are way too many Bars and Clubs with far too few patrons drinking,
that sadly are going to go out of business in the next 15 months.
From my research the reasons vary and if one of these SITUATIONS, applies
to you, I would strongly suggest you contact me ASAP.

Lack of Change
Failure to take charge
Inability to seek outside Expertise
Listening to all the wrong people
Spending way too much money
Booking boring bands
Tolerating incompetent DJS
Giving away the bar
Allowing staff to take advantage of you and your bar
Letting the wrong crowd frequent your bar or club.
Not having a CONSISTENT GAME PLAN ( That I create for you)
Closing far too many nights each week.
Using club promoters
Missing out on additional avenues of income and revenue
Paying Managers too much and getting too little in return
poor relationship with local law enforcement
Horrible perception by your local Community
No parking areas
