 IT'S OCTOBER, THIS YEAR, HALLOWEEN IS A TWO NIGHT CASH COW.
 IS YOUR BAR GOING TO BE THE VICTIM OF A LAME, LAZY, LAID BACK ONE NIGHT HALLOWEEN, OR ARE YOU GOING TO BE FOUR DEEP AT THE BAR, WITH A TWO
NIGHT SCARY, SCREAMIN CROWD PACKIN HAND OVER FIST CASH TREATS PROMOTION? YOU HAVE LET YOUR BAR BECOME RUN DOWN, FILLED WITH PEOPLE YOU WOULD NEVER EVER SOCIALIZE WITH, BUT NOW DEPEND ON FOR A BUCK, YOU HAVE LET THE BATHROOMS FALL APART, YOU ARE SO BURNT OUT AND DISENCHANTED, THAT YOU DON'T EVEN KNOW WHY YOU OPEN EVERY DAY? IF YOU HAVE POSITIONED YOUR BAR INTO A CORNER WITH THE WRONG CROWD, THE WRONG FORMAT, THE WRONG MARKETING AND YOU ARE TOTALLY DEPRESSED, DISAPPOINTED AND DOWN, WELL, IT'S TIME TO TURN THE TIDE. IT'S THE MOMENT WHEN YOU DECIDE I AM GOING TO TURN THIS BAR AROUND AND TAKE BACK THE NIGHTS. I WILL START ON A HUGE TWO NIGHT HIGH IMPACT FORMAT FOR "HALLOWEEN" THAT NO OTHER BAR IN MY AREA IS EVEN THINKING OF. I WILL LET THIS BE MY BEGINNING AND NEVER LOOK BACK. I WILL HAVE MY "GAME PLAN" IN PLACE, MY "STRATEGIES" SET, MY "PROMOTIONS PATHS" LAID OUT THROUGH NEXT YEAR. I WILL LAUNCH INTO MY MARKETING WITH A BLAZING NON STOP, DOMINATING MEDIA BLITZ. MY BAR WILL BE THE "VICTOR" FROM THIS DAY FORTH, AND NEVER EVER BE A "VICTIM" AGAIN.  FOR THE LOVE OF THE CLUB
 
Rich, Please bear with me, this is a long and heartfelt story, all factual, that I had to tell you.
By reading what you have to say on your web site I realized  how many mistakes have been made at the club I was working in as an assistant manager .
I'm an Italian 24 years old guy who loves everything that is related to party and events. In November 2009 i received a call from a guy (my old boss) asking me if I would be interested in helping him out with this project he had. 
He re bought a club that went from making thousands of $ to nothing in about just 1 and a half year of life.. It was the __________ in _____________. 
So after a couple of interviews, I decided to give it a shot.
 I moved to __________ and started this new adventure with him.
Back then it was the first time I was going to work in the nightclub business. It actually was a first for my boss as well.. I guess he picked me because of my contacts in _____________________ and my trustworthiness (he knew me from before). The team was made of 3 elements: the boss, the manager (some chick from _________) and myself.
Now according to my boss I was suppose to be formed by this so called manager, who knew lots of things when it came to bar and table service, but honestly had no clue on how to manage people and how to promote parties the right way.
Both my boss and her thought that because of the beautiful decor, brand new lights, and the most powerful system in ____________, people would just show up no matter what.
As you can imagine she got fired 2 weeks after the grand opening. So when the new manager came in, I knew our problems where far away from being solved.. Even though this guy was managing _____________ for about 7 years, I didn't feel like he was doing a good job. He was contacted by my boss, who instead of doing some research and actually trying to solve the problem in the right way, just set up a meeting with the guy and hired him right on the spot.. He lasted no more then 3 months.
At that time my boss was still kinda believing in the club, he thought him and I could run it without any problems.. but the problems actually started arising and the old man started losing thousands of $ every months. Things where not looking good so I contacted one of my friends that was working at ___________________ (he was manager over there) and asked him if he was willing to come down and save a sinking boat. He agreed and joined us about 5 months ago. The guy is all about great service and treating the customer like its your family. Unfortunately that was not exactly what the club needed.. 
So 3 months ago the boss called us and fired us both. The club was making no money, my friend did not accomplish the task he was called for and I learned everything i know ONLY through my mistakes.
Since my friend and I left, The club is doing worst then ever, the boss hired an intern who literally knows zero about the club business.
 
Now I'm not writing you because I feel like whining and complaining. I'm actually trying to solve this problem.. yeah cause my beloved ex boss called me a few weeks ago asking me to organize a fashion show at ______________. I accepted and it turned out to be quite a successful night. He's now asking me if i have some ideas for future event.. which i do. The problem is we need to go hard with promotion, i mean real hard, but mister boss DOESN T believe in promo! He thinks that a few phone calls, a bunch of flyers and word of mouth will do the trick.... its a tuff situation..
 
Add to that this Community has a population of 90,000 and already has 3 other clubs operating. One Club has the quality customers, the second club has the kinda locals you want at your place, then there is __________, this is the third club and  is the real killer.. they opened about an year and a half ago and they re prob the reason why  my Club is dying. They are the main place to be at, as soon as the doors open there are already  40 people stepping in. They have an incredible location  and they are surrounded by restaurants, bars, a strip club and a huge hotel. 
 
Now on my side I've been searching for possible investors that might be interested in the club. I actually found one and I am now wondering what the best way to proceed would be..
I am not the most experienced kid you could find but I have great ambition and a huge will to learn.. I need to learn form the best though.. no more half way bs learning process.

                           Tony, don't even go near this club again. Why would you encourage anyone to invest in this club? It's sadly over with. Thousands of bars and clubs and sports bars are going to close through the last four months of this year.
Unfortunately this is going to be one of them.
There is no upside, no positive vibes, no upswing to acquiring this club.
You are a young man of great energy and you have some experience first hand in the biz now, use it to your advantage by working @ a viable club with a hands on Owner who respects his employees, embraces and appreciates hard work. Best of Luck, you are one valuable individual to any bar or club. Find an Owner that accords you that  kind of relationship.

             IN THE FRUSTRATION OF A SPORTS BAR 
 
 
 I found your web site and found that the information rang so true for me.
 I presently lease a grill within a sports bar. I have overhauled the menu and have
brought the business back to life. I have regular clientele now and have had very successful catering events and sports banquets. However, the bar is in the dumps, the bar's managers are institutionalized , lazy and uncreative.

They settle for the everyday morning drunks, happy hour regulars, and country bands. then complain of the lack of business. I offer suggestions all the time (merchandising, exclusive drink specials, "bar bites" menu, catering liquor permit for outdoor events, mug club, photo booth, singles night), but they become insulted and tell me to mind my own business. I can't help be angry, because the success of my business is relying on theirs. They get more business off my clientele than vice versa.

The bar has so much potential: newly expanded game room with 3 pool tables, 4 dart machines, shuffleboard, & basketball hoop, a casino, (my) grill open noon-midnight, 50 flat screen televisions, 2 projection screens, partially enclosed outdoor patio (I suggested outdoor poker table), golf & Buck Hunter arcade, live poker from 7pm (hardly gets players), large parking lot, at intersection of 2 busy intersections, and extra large parking lot. They sponsor many softball teams and have a huge NFL & college football following. There are a few hockey, NBA, PGA, and hockey fans but not to their potential.

I'm at my wits end, but I thought I would see what information and advice you might have to offer.
Please help me help them!

                               Debbie, you are in a catch 22 situation.
Your food business is tied directly to the traffic this Sports Bar generates.
Your best choices are A. Find another Sports Bar to operate out of.
B. Renegotiate your rent and overhead.
C. Put together the funds to buy out the present Ownership and since you care more about this Sports Bar than the Ownership does, you would make it a huge success. 
D. Sell out your Business and do not sign a Non Compete Contract under any circumstances.
E. Ask them to buy you out.
F. Stay where you are and totally focus on food service and increasing your business, and do not take anymore interest in their side of this Sports Bar, because they just do not care. AND YOU CARE TOO MUCH TO TAKE THIS KIND OF GARBAGE and LACK OF RESPECT.
 
 
A SPORTS BAR'S NEW GM ASKS BUT DOES NOT DO

I have recently took over the operations a Sports Bar in ________,________. They Owners and Previous Gm have tried "cheap drink specials", Radio, Flyers, Everything you pretty much have listed on your site, they have done. I wanna take this place into a new direction. I don't want to try the same old same promo's that have been done to death. We live in a college town and should not have any problem getting patrons in. It's a very nice place, maybe too nice, I'm trying to give it a more Hometown feel. But what is something I can do to WOW these people/

                                 Roger, after visiting the web site for this Sports Bar, I discovered it has not been updated since it opened a year ago July. Your current Promotion is "Buy any Appetizer get 25% off your Second one".
You have no "FUN", no "WOW FACTORS" of any kind. You do not even embrace your local Pro Sports Teams in any way, shape or form. How can you "take this place in a new direction" by simply asking me for "Something to WOW these people"? What People, who are you targeting, who are your demographics, what is the reputation of this Sports Bar, Why did you take the position of "GM", if you have no clue what to do? You don't need a "hometown feeling" you need a Major  Community Connection.  Your web site has zero "REACH", no Sports Tie In, no Team Support, no
focus. This is not an overnight sensation, this Sports Bar was dragged across the field with Panic Promoting, and Bar Begging. You have your work cut out for you, but you need a Comprehensive "GAME PLAN" not a simple "WOW Factor"
I never heard from Roger again. It's ironic how some Owners of Sports Bars just don't understand the new format that thrives, while they barely survive. I can say it 100x but some Owners go out of business , rather than accept their faults and turn the page.

  HIRE EMPLOYEES WITH PASSION & PROFESSIONALISM
Right now, sadly many, many in the Food and Beverage Industry are out of work.
But, this is not the time to hire out of pity, out of pleading, out of promises.
Your Bar, your Sports Bar, your Casual Dining Establishment, your Nightclub, your Lounge needs the Best not the most needing work. Do not tolerate rude, crude, late to work, stoned, sloppy dressed, unkept hair, lack of personal hygiene  employees, if they don't care about themselves, why would they take a sincere interest in your Bar, Club, Sports Bar, Restaurant, Lounge? From DJs to Bartenders, from Bar backs to Servers to the General Manager,

 I Read page by page, having produced HUNDREDS IF NOT THOUSANDS OF Bikini Events over the years and never ever treating any of my models or contestants with nothing but total respect and regard. Never ever asking them to expose or act in a sexual manner.
 
a few years ago, I CREATED  a format that compliments hot girls in bars and clubs, which at the same time b* slaps "ggw". all they did was give FREE tank tops and cash to girls to flash, i don't want that trashy attitude or mentality. no thanks. i simply give hot females a cat walk with style, and panache, to  be flirty and girly. class over crass wins every time.
