   Hi Rich, Past Friday Promotions include, Everyone free all night with text, every 6 girls who send their names in to the guest list get a free bottle of house champagne and a table but they must arrive together......We do this on Friday Nights.
 Another past promotion for ladies, on Friday Nights was Ladies free all nigh fellas free till 12

DON, THE FIRST MOVE YOU SHOULD MAKE, IS TO STOP DOING WHAT YOUR DOING. YOUR "DOOR DESPERATE" GIVING AWAY THE COVER CHARGE BECAUSE YOU CAN'T GET ANYONE TO EVEN WALK THROUGH THOSE DOORS. THE SECOND STEP IS TO LET YOUR OWNER SEEK OUT NOT A CLUB PROMOTER, BUT A "GAME PLAN", A "SET OF STRATEGIES", A "MARKETING PATH" TO PACK HIS CLUB. YOU ARE NOT HELPING HIM, YOU ARE HURTING HIS CLUB BIG TIME. YOU SAY YOUR A CLUB PROMOTER, BUT YOUR MENTALITY OF WHAT YOUR DOING IS SIGNIFICANTLY LACKING IN EXPERIENCE, KNOWLEDGE, BACKGROUND AND TENACITY. WHEN YOU HAVE TO GROVEL TO INVITE PATRONS IN ON FRIDAY NIGHTS, YOU ARE IN DIRE, LET ME REPEAT DIRE SHAPE. YOU REALLY IN ALL HONESTY NEED TO STEP ASIDE. YOUR NOT HELPING YOUR FRIEND AT ALL. YOUR FRIEND SHOULD HAVE CONTACTED ME, NOT YOU.

REMODELING TO RE-ENERGIZE? FIGHT OFF THE URGE TO SPLURGE!
Why do you think that if you remodel, your going to instantly do business?
Why do you think people are not patronizing your place because you need
new carpet
fresh paint
new entrance
new rest rooms
new lights
new tables/chairs
new bar tops
If that were the case, every "Dive Bar" that is packing them in, would be dead.
If that were the case, once you spent all this money, you would be packed.
If that were the case, you would see an overnight reaction, fantastic street buzz, facebook freak outs, posting about the REMODEL.
If that were the case, you would see all new faces from all the other places in your place.
But that's not the case................................................................................

 Help Rich, My Club is Not Successful Because Of Local Competitor  
Saturday Nights We Average About 400 People & Friday Nights Average 50 People Because Of Local Competitor.We are an 8000 square foot club with  great lights, DJ, video and a huge dance floor as well as bottle service. We use Face Book too. Thanks, Carl
 
My Response: Carl, I visited your club's web site, on the left hand side of your home page, you offer bottle service on Friday Nights. Yet on the right side of your home page,  you offer drinks for 25 cents on Friday Nights , going even further, you list over 30 different drinks for 25 cents. Carl, your home page is like calling Paris Hilton a virgin. I mean it is so convoluted  and distorted. Your clearly begging, panic promoting and offering drink desperation to get anyone to come in, on what should be the #1 night of the week. You have 8,000 square feet, it's not because of your competitor, it's because you are laying over and letting the other club bury you and walk all over your club. Why are you blaming them for doing what you should be doing, which is business? They are not giving away drinks for 25 cents.
They are making money @ regular price. Your site has no "FUN", meaning your club offers no "FUN", your site has no "WOW FACTORS", meaning your club is minus a single "WOW FACTOR", your site has no "FAB", clearly showing your club is totally lacking "FAB". Why are you even open? A huge dance floor is fine, so are great lights, a good DJ, but those are the basics. Where are the "BOOMS"?
You own this club, you are the Club Marketing, Promotions, Format, Operations, Person. Your club sadly is slowly dying and your suffocating it with 25 cent drinks. What kind of clubber do you think you attract giving away drinks for a quarter?
What kind of Friday Night do you expect? Carl, this is not about ego, this is all about survival. Either your going to get off your tuchus and pack this club or not?
You are offering people, ZIP, ZILCH, ZERO, to frequent your club. Why own a club if all your going to do is give away the bar, listen to everybody who know nothing and then blame your competitor? I mean seriously, this is a cut throat business, unless you eat, sleep, breathe and live it, you should not really be in it! Your only open two nights a week, how are you ever going to take back your nights? Your Face Book page is hideous.

OWNERS BREAK UP YOUR DAILY ROUTINE FIND OUT WHAT GOES ON WHEN YOUR GONE...... 
 Instead of doing the same routine every day as usual, start mixing up your daily responsibilities so that your staff is caught off guard. The purpose is to keep everyone on their toes, and find out who is taking advantage of YOU, knowing your not around. Stop being so predictable. Stop being so easy.
This is your livelihood  , it is only a job to most of your employees. How much beer is being given away, how many bottles of liquor are walking out the front door, while steaks are leaving through the back one? Who's friends are dining and drinking for free?
What employees are true and blue in front of you, and stabbing you in the back when your gone?
Do you know how to tell if your bartenders are not being honest to you?
Do you know if your kitchen is not being up front with you?
If you take all this for granted, your living in a world of denial. 
From secret shoppers, to cameras, to spot stopping by, which is never letting your staff know when your coming in, why give them a heads up?

My name is Shannon, I hail to you from _______________. I found your site on the web- it left me cautious, yet curious. I am buying a Bar & Grill that's in an excellent location with my partner, Nancy. We also have "Angel Investors" and have been advised by members of "SCORE".
We are putting $$ into it and revamping its image. It has three identities- lunch 11-3, drinking mans/locals Happy Hour 4-8 and Local social spot/mini club 10-2. Its not a nightclub, but a place that is the local hangout due to proximity. It has lost its flair for the nightlife with the current owners and condition- however, has an amazing location and demographic. We have ideas, but are also curious to see what you have to say?

                             SHANNON, AN EXCELLENT LOCATION IS CANCELED OUT BY THE LOSS OF IT'S IMAGE, REPUTATION, AND IT'S PRESENT CONDITION. WITH ALL DUE RESPECT TO "SCORE", I DOUBT VERY STRONGLY THERE IS ANY RETIRED NIGHTCLUB OWNERS IN YOUR AREA IN THAT ORGANIZATION, THEY ARE GREAT ADVISERS FOR A REGULAR RETAIL BUSINESS, BUT AS FOR A BAR AND GRILL THAT WANTS TO ENERGIZE IT'S NIGHT LIFE, I REGRET "SCORE" IS NOT THE PLACE TO TURN. YOU STATE YOU HAVE "ANGEL INVESTORS", BETWEEN YOU, NANCY, AND MORE THAN ONE SILENT PARTNER, YOU HAVE TO SLICE THE PIE IN MANY PIECES. IN THIS ECONOMY, "ANGEL INVESTORS" WANT A RELATIVELY PROMPT RETURN ON THEIR INITIAL INVESTMENT. YOU CAN THROW A BUSINESS PLAN OUT THE WINDOW, BECAUSE IN THIS BAR AND GRILL CLIMATE, PROJECTED REVENUE AND PROFITABILITY MEANS NOTHING.

Hi Rich, Here's our situation, plain and simple.
We offer trivia, martini menu, wacky Wednesday - indoor polish golf, bring your own vessel - beer by the inch, darts
MAJOR PROBLEMS: live music costs more than we can make up in sales.
we have a small space.
we have a small dance floor.
COMMENTS: We have a long skinny bar that is the oldest in town.  Bathrooms remodeled but bar is a dive.  we don't own building.  Slow all week FRI & SAT are our money nights.  We have 3 bar stations on a long bar. We have a stage for music but hardly ever have live music.

                               YOU DO NOT NEED LIVE MUSIC. RIP THAT STAGE OUT ASAP. STOP WITH THE TRIVIA, THE MARTINI MENU, THE WACKY WEDNESDAY NONSENSE, STOP WITH THE INDOOR POLISH GOLF, BRING YOUR OWN VESSEL, BEER BY THE INCH, DARTS, STOP, STOP, STOP, STOP.
NO WONDER NOBODY IS COMING IN.
GOOD, YOU HAVE A SMALL SPACE, EASY TO ROLL OUT "THE FUN", "THE WOW FACTORS" AND "THE FAB". YOUR BATHROOMS HAVE BEEN REMODELED, EXCELLENT. YOU DON'T NEED TO OWN THE BUILDING. GREAT IT'S A DIVE BAR, SO? AGAIN RIP THE STAGE OUT, AND REBRAND, REPOSITION AND REIGNITE THIS BAR. YOUR STUCK IN A TIME WARP OF WHAT USE TO BE, INSTEAD OF WHAT NEEDS TO BE. I TRIED GUIDING YOU, BUT YOU ARE NOT OPEN TO CHANGE. "LONG SKINNY BARS" ARE GREAT TO IGNITE, EXCITE AND ENERGIZE.

HI RICH, WE OWN AN "EVENT CENTER" THAT WE HAVE TRUSTED TO CLUB PROMOTERS TO HOLD THEIR NIGHTS AT, WHEN WE HAVE NO BOOKINGS, THE PROBLEM IS, THESE CLUB PROMOTERS HAVE BROUGHT IN THE WRONG CROWD, TRASHED OUR CENTER, WE ARE NOT MAKING ANY MONEY, AND THIS WAS THE BIGGEST MISTAKE WE EVER MADE. MY RESPONSE: MICHAEL END ALL AGREEMENTS WITH EVERY CLUB PROMOTER RIGHT NOW. STOP THIS MADNESS. YOU AND YOUR WIFE ARE LOSING TENS OF THOUSANDS OF DOLLARS. YOUR DESTROYING THE VERY ESSENCE OF YOUR 'EVENT CENTER' ON NIGHTS THAT YOUR NOT HOSTING PRIVATE EVENTS. I OFFERED YOU A NO HOLDS BARRED CRUCIAL GUERILLA MARKETING/FUN/WOW/FAB/ STRATEGY.   YOU CAN'T DO "SLOW GROWTH", YOU HAVE TO COME ON LIKE
                                   " GANGBUSTERS"
There is no time in this bar business to build, grow and mature your business SLOWLY. Not with the way that bars open, close, are sold, change names, remodel. This is the moment in which you open with a Powerful, Potent, Pattern of Promotions. NONE to include any kind of drink specials, drink discounting. Never have so many bars suffered, because their Ownership is so slow to GO. Why Owners continue to simply drift and dwell when they could be doing so swell defies common sense. Never has the bar business been inundated with so many Owners totally out of touch with the Culture of Today. Sadly there are way too many General Managers and Managers who are only waiting for a paycheck instead of chasing after their competition.
I had an Owner contact me complaining about his General Managers. Their lack of energy, skills, abilities, and basic drive to do their job. He had gone through about five or six  General Managers, he said to me "Why is it I pay them very well, I expect them to give me back 100%". I explained that you cannot hire a private bar former General Manager because they do not have the training, the discipline, the motivation that operations such as "OSI" do. Such food/beverage Corporations demand consistent hard working, totally dedicated individuals , willing to do whatever is required to generate excellent customer service that transforms into exceptional revenue. I told him, "Don't use craigslist" it is not the way to find Greatness. You are lucky to find Mediocrity. The best method to seeking out the BEST OF THE BEST is to steal them from corporate entities that have zero tolerance for slackers. He replied " I never thought of that", I said "That's why you contacted me." Then you have Owners who pay very little, demand so much, and wonder why their GM stole from them, lied to them, and did them dirty. First, you should of never hired a person who  you cannot find that is
Grounded in his or her personal life, has a good background, a great knowledge, and a strong record of experience. But not skipping from job to job. NO, and more NO. You want "STABILITY".
Any applicant who uses the "F" Word is automatically a "NO" On the same level any Owner who speaks to a potential GM Candidate using the "F" word is a "NO". If they have no self respect and no character, why hire them, why work for them? Especially female General Managers should not have to hear that word over and over, nor should Female Owners use that word over and over. I don't know
what happened to these people that they find foul language their first language?

                BRIAN, ONCE AGAIN YOU LIKE SO MANY OWNERS BEFORE YOU, SPENT A GREAT DEAL OF MONEY REMODELING AND THINKING THAT WAS GOING TO BE THE "KICKER" TO PACK YOUR VENUE. WRONG, WRONG, AND MORE WRONG. HAVING 2 DANCE FLOORS DOESN'T MATTER, IF THERE IS NOBODY DANCING ON THEM. HAVING GREAT STAFF, MEANS NOTHING IF THERE IS NOBODY TO SERVE. YOU NEVER THOUGHT ABOUT WHAT YOU WERE GOING TO DO, YOUR FORMAT, YOUR MARKETING TO REACH YOUR LOCALS AND YOUR SEASONAL TRADE, YOU NEVER CREATED A FORMAT, A COUNTER TACTIC TO BURY YOUR COMPEITITION. YOU DIDN'T PREPARE, YOU WERE FAR TOO CAUGHT UP IN THE MOMENT FO REMODELING WITH THIS CLUB DESIGNER WHO HAD YOU SPENDING WAYYYYYYYYYYY TOO MUCH MONEY.

    I am opening a bikini/strip club. What marketing ideas do you have besides being against radio, print flyers etc? Thanks, Bob
     
    MY RESPONSE:  
                 Bob, without knowing where your planned "Bikini/Exotic Club is opening, the word "strip" is outdated and years ago, I have no idea what your STRATEGIES should be. Your correct, radio is a total waste of money, especially when Clear Channel is pushing 30 second spots on every bar and club, when 30 seconds accomplishes nothing, nobody remembers the content. In addition I-Pods, Sirius Satellite, Smart Phones all have but buried actual radio audience to fall by almost 25%. Flyers are a total waste of money. I knew an Owner of a huge club in NYC, he paid the #1 Street Team to hand out 25,000 Flyers, nobody, but 15 clubbers showed up for what he thought was a powerful event on a Saturday Night. He was devastated. Print, nobody reads papers or magazines, they read online. Ads online are the #1 pain in the tuchus, most online readers, have their pop ups turned off, and totally ignore online ads unless there is a value, or consumer driven incentive to reward the person, thus they respond.I wish you much success, but you didn't provide any specifics for me to respond to. A one sentence question is impossible to answer with my Expertise. I will suggest you create a strong, powerful format that is more than just featuring girls in bikinis, yawn, snore, zzzzzz, simply featuring girls is not a money maker like days gone by. 
     
     
    EVERY NIGHTCLUB SHOULD BE SERVING FOOD
    It does not take a kitchen, nor a chef, cook or even a dishwasher to generate thousands of dollars from serving food. Why are you letting your patrons, clubbers seek food elsewhere?
    Why let them leave your venue to seek out something to eat?
    You don't need a huge space.
    You don't need what you think.
    I have advised hundreds of Owners to not ditch the dish, but rather serve the Night Life Crowd. Once again far too many Owners are so out of touch with 2011 avenues of cash, they simply rely on the bar to bear the burden of their cash flow.
    Food is your Financial Friend, specifically if you do it correctly with next to no overhead, yet still put out a quality, tasty, trendy presentation PRICED RIGHT! 
     
     
    THIS MONTH CAN EITHER BE YOUR WORSE NIGHTMARE FINANCIALLY OR A REAL MONEY MAKER THE CHOICE IS YOURS.
