MAJOR_PROBLEMS: exactly what you said, live music is a dying breed.  Very few bands which have a draw, and if they do, are very expensive.  Locals constantly  complain they want live music, but don't support it.  When I have an event people flock to our place and love everything they experience.  We run a great business with service, food, beverage and atmosphere its just my nightlife is very inconsistent
COMMENTS: I just want consistency,  very frustrating we have great nights, and then there are nights it looks like we just opened up..I look forward to hearing your input and advice. Thanks, Mark

WHY SHOULD ANYONE BE GIVEN LATE NIGHT HAPPY HOUR PRICES AND ON TOP OF THAT, FREE LIVE ENTERTAINMENT? HOW ABOUT LIQUOR COSTS, BAND COSTS? IF THE BANDS THAT HAVE A "DRAW" ARE THAT EXPENSIVE, LET THEM PLAY ELSEWHERE, THEY WILL FIND OUT VERY QUICKLY THERE ARE FAR AND FEW PLACES WILLING TO TOLERATE HIGH BAND COSTS WITH BUSINESS COMBINED WITH GIVING AWAY THE BAR JUST TO DRAW IN PATRONS. YOU DO NOT NEED BANDS TO PACK YOUR PLACE, LET ME REPEAT THIS, YOU DO NOT NEED BANDS TO PACK YOUR PLACE. PEOPLE COMPLAIN JUST TO COMPLAIN, THEY ARE NOT EVEN PAYING FOR THE BANDS, WHY CATER TO THEM IN THIS REGARD, INSTEAD OF HOSTING "THE FUN", "THE WOW FACTORS" AND "THE FAB" WHICH WILL PACK THEM IN, PAYING A COVER CHARGE, AND YOU MAKING SERIOUS MONEY?
INCONSISTENT NIGHT LIFE WILL COST YOU TENS OF THOUSANDS OF DOLLARS MONTHLY AND IN YOUR CASE WEEKLY WITH HAPPY HOUR LATE NIGHT. SURE YOU RUN A GREAT BUSINESS, BUT YOU HAVE NO PREMIER PROMOTIONS, THEMES, EVENTS, HAPPENINGS, CELEBRATIONS, CONCEPTS, CONTESTS, PARTIES, UNIQUE ENTERTAINMENT ON A REGULAR NIGHTLY BASIS, IT'S HIT OR MISS. TRUE STORY: WHEN I OWNED ONE OF THE LARGEST CLUBS IN FLORIDA , YEARS AGO, A NICE MIDDLE AGED MAN CAME IN EARLY EVERY WEDNESDAY, THURSDAY AND FRIDAY, FOR A STRAIGHT MONTH. HE WORE A SUIT, LOOKED LIKE THE FORMER SECRETARY OF HOMELAND SECURITY, TOM RIDGE.
ANYWAY, SO THIS GENTLEMAN SITS AT MY FRONT WATERFALL BAR, AND DRINKS. HE IS ALL CLASS. HE TIPS GOOD, HE DRINKS TOP SHELF. ALWAYS SAYS HELLO TO ME AND THAT'S ALL.
AFTER TWO MONTHS OF THIS ROUTINE, I AM WALKING BY HIM ONE THURSDAY AFTERNOON, AND HE SAYS " DO YOU HAVE A FEW MINUTES?" I REPLIED "SURE". HE INTRODUCED HIMSELF, HE WAS TED SIMPKINS THE CEO OF THE WEST COAST OF FLORIDA DIVISION OF SOUTHERN WINE & SPIRITS. HE SAID TO ME " I HAVE COME INTO YOUR FRONT BAR FOR TWO STRAIGHT MONTHS, THREE NIGHTS A WEEK TO SHOW YOU WE WANT YOUR BUSINESS". I RESPECTED THE MAN AND ADMIRED HIM FROM THAT MOMENT ON.
AT THE TIME "SWS" DID NOT HAVE ALL THE BRANDS IT HAS NOW, THEY WERE NOT ANYWHERE NEAR THE KING OF LIQUOR BRANDS, THEY WERE A NOTHING LIQUOR HOUSE, JAY WEISS OWNED THEM AND HE WAS OUT TO DOMINATE THE LIQUOR INDUSTRY. ANYWAY TED WAS AMAZED AT MY RELENTESS PRESENTATION OF PROMOTIONS WEEKLY. HE HAD NEVER SEEN ANYONE JUST COME BACK ONE RIGHT AFTER ANOTHER NIGHT AFTER NIGHT, WEEK AFTER WEEK. HE KNEW WE WERE DOING HUGE BUSINESS.
WE TOOK THE WELL AWAY FROM NATIONAL AND GAVE IT TO "SWS".
WE STARTED SELLING "DOM", AND WE DID SO MANY PROMOTIONS WITH "SWS", THAT  I KNEW EVERY VP, EVERY DM, EVERY SALES MANAGER ON THE WEST COAST OF FLORIDA. THEY LOVED THE PACE BY WHICH WE OPERATED.
WE WOULD PACK IN CROWDS, DO TREMENDOUS BUSINESS, NO CHEAP DRINKS, NO DRINK SPECIALS, OUR FOCUS WAS EVEN BACK THEN ON "THE FUN", "THE FAB" AND "THE WOW FACTORS", SO THE PRICE OF A DRINK WAS NOT A CONCERN, IT WAS ALL ABOUT WHAT WE WERE DOING THAT NIGHT.
ANYWAY, TED WAS SOLID GOLD TO US, AND WE IN TURN WERE ONE OF "SWS" TOP ACCOUNTS ON THE WEST COAST OF FLORIDA. ALL THIS HAPPENED FROM A STRANGER SITTING AT OUR FRONT WATERFALL BAR, THREE NIGHTS A WEEK FOR TWO STRAIGHT MONTHS.
TED WENT ON TO RUN SOUTHERN'S CALIFORNIA DIVISION. HE WAS A ONE OF A KIND. BUT THEN SO WAS MY CLUB.

BUT WHAT YOU DON'T HAVE, YOU DON'T UNDERSTAND, AND YOU HAVE NO CLUE HOW TO DO, IS WHAT YOU HAVE NEVER DONE BEFORE. I HAD A BEAUTIFUL SPORTS BAR OWNER COME RIGHT OUT AND TELL ME, "I DON'T RELATE TO THE NIGHT LIFE".

HE KNEW IT, HE REACHED OUT, BECAUSE HE HAD ALL THE EXPERTISE WHEN IT CAME TO THE DAY TO DAY OPERATING, BUT NOT A CLUE ABOUT "THE NIGHT LIFE ADVENTURE". HE SHOWED GAMES, HE SHOWED UFC, BUT HE KNEW HE WAS MISSING OUT ON THE BIGGEST SLICE OF THE PARTY PIE. FIRST YOU HAVE TO ACCEPT IT, THEN YOU HAVE TO LEARN IT, THEN YOU PROFIT FROM IT.
