It doesn't matter if you serve Italian Food, if you serve Seafood, if you serve European Fare, if you serve Steaks, if you serve Mexican cuisine, if you serve Wings N Bar Food, every single one of these food serving establishments, MUST, I REPEAT MUST, WHEN FOOD SERVICE IS OVER @ 9PM, OR 10PM , TRANSFORM INTO A NIGHT LIFE ADVENTURE.
It is a matter of Making It or Losing It.
YOU DON'T NEED:
 
A DANCE FLOOR
 
A DJ BOOTH
 
A CLUB PROMOTER
 
A DISCO BALL
 
A LIVE BAND
 
ALL YOU NEED IS THE BAR AND THE ROOM.
 
I have shown every type of restaurant, that it doesn't matter what cuisine you serve, because when the regular menu ends food service, that is when the Owner should  Prosper beyond their wildest expectations, but without the riff raff, without the problems, without the wrong crowd, without the hassles that some of Night Life Venues experience.
I call it "RICHIE"S RIGHT WAYS TO PACKING YOUR NITES"
Right now, the challenge for Restaurants is to generate and create as many avenues, streams of new income as possible.
You have to think "OUTSIDE THE KITCHEN", and into the "Front Of The House". But you host these nights on your terms, no club promoters, no hip hop crap, no slobs, no radio ads, no paper flyers, the problem with restaurant Owners is either Ego, Arrogance, Fear or Burn Out.
You need to let go of all these wasted emotions.
There is a method to the madness that makes it a smooth transition.
The entire process is all about "Consistency".
Now more than ever, people want "NIGHT LIFE FUN, WOW FACTORS & FAB".
I have been part of large upscale fine dining restaurants as well as bar & grills, as they go from what they are to adding on what they become after food service. That's the key.
This useless excuse and paranoia that Foodies are going to flee restaurants that transform into "Night Life Adventures" after their food service is over, is total nonsense. These customers are gone. They are in bed, tucked in, zzzzzzzzzzzz the night away.
Think about the hundreds of thousands of dollars you have lost, by procrastinating, hesitating, when you should of been activating  night life Wednesdays, Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays, as well as Sunday Nights when Monday is a legal holiday.
Anyone who says you can't do it, has no clue.
What are their credentials?
What are their background?
What are their hands on knowledge?
it's always the negative people that far too many Owners gravitate to, rather than the Experts who eat, sleep and breathe this business, every day of every week of every month of every year.
A Chef can't DJ and a DJ can't Chef.
A Bartender can't or should not be responsible for Marketing, Promotions, Themes, Events, Concepts, Contests, Parties, Celebrations, Gatherings, Happenings, Unique Entertainment, and also overseeing your entire web presence.
If all you rely on is Facebook your one of the "Facebook Fallbehinds".
The web is evolving almost on a daily basis with new social networks, resources, that you must be part of.
You should place having your own web site as #1 Web Presence.
Many Owners feel they are saving money and reaching the same demographics with just a Facebook page.
WRONG, WRONG, SO WRONG.
You post an event up on Facebook, thinking you will be packed, and instead your dead.

  Hi Rich.  Just read one of your articles about club promoters and I agree
 with  you 100% about how they promise the world and do not usually live up tot
their words.  I own a cafe that I recently converted into a lounge.  It has a
very ' Stylish' vibe to it.  Outdoor patio, tables with chairs, couches to
lounge etc.  I have a full time job and don't have time to promote my place other then Facebook and word of mouth.    I'm just looking for
some expert advice here.....would you say it's a bad idea for me to bring in a
promoter or a promotions team to see how they do?  After all, I am trying
to establish a name for myself so it's not like I'm a huge venue already. A
hip mover and shaker crowd in the door at this point will help a lot.

THE DAY CLUB AKA POOL PARTIES ARE NOW THE SPLASH OF SIN CITY.
JUST WHEN YOU THOUGHT VEGAS WAS JUST GAMING, ALONG CAME SPECTACULAR NIGHTCLUBS, SPARING NO EXPENSE.
NOW OWNERS HAVE SAID " WHY DO WE HAVE TO WAIT TILL THE NITE TO EXCITE?
THE TENS OF MILLIONS INVESTED IN POOLS, ATMOSPHERE, LIGHTING,  AMBIANCE, AND OF COURSE THE HOT DESERT SUN AND COOL CASH OF THE POOLS.
 
HERE IS A LIST OF THE MAJOR POOL PLAYERS, AS IN BEAUTIFUL WOMEN, HARD BODY MEN, DRINK BARS IN THE POOL, CABANAS FOR $20,000 A DAY, WITH DAY BEDS RENTING FOR ACCEPTABLE FEES.

ONE POOL EVEN SPECIALIZES IN CHARITY EVENTS. NEVER BEFORE HAS A NEW GENRE OF FOOD AND BEVERAGE ALONG WITH EYE POPPING CANDY, AS MAKE UP, HEELS, AND LESS IS MORE BEEN MORE PROFITABLE THAN IN THESE VEGAS POOLS. Wet Republic: The party at the MGM Grand started in March and will continue until October. Wet Republic opens at 11 a.m. Thursdays through Mondays. 

Bare Pool Lounge: With a name like Bare, expect no tan lines and plenty of topless sun worshipping at the Mirage. Bare opened last month, and weekday parties begin April 16. Hours are 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. 

Liquid: Three pools, including two semi-private ones for cabana guests, await visitors at the Aria adult pool party, which also launched its season in March. Pools open at 11 a.m. Thursdays through Sundays.

Moorea Beach Club: Visitors can get a poolside massage or cook some s'mores at a fire pit at the adult beach club located at Mandalay Bay.  

Palms Pool: Palms Pool Saturdays join regular Ditch Fridays this season. Ditch Fridays begin at noon starting April 20, with the Saturday splash beginning at noon May 5 with new resident DJ Roger Sanchez.For those wanting to extend the weekend, the Palms is sponsoring Cabanas for a Cause, where the resort donates its cabana rental fees to a local not-for-profit. Monday hours are 11:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. 

GO: The GO Pool at the Flamingo offers parties from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily with guest DJs playing music in the early afternoons for people 21 and older.

Tao Beach: Opening April 9, the pool party at the Venetian has become a big draw for star watchers, who have seen Heidi Klum, Jay Z and Jessica Simpson strolling poolside over the years. It's open from 10 a.m. to sundown. European-style sunbathing is permitted on certain days.

Rehab: The original Vegas day party returns for its ninth season April 21 at the Hard Rock. Partiers can lay on the sand wearing as little as possible. Rehab runs from 11 a.m. until sunset every Sunday. 

Venus Pool:The Caesars Palace adult pool party kicks off April 20.

The Voo: As in Voodoo, which allows guests to worship the sun European-style at the Rio. The pool opens April 13, and initial hours will be from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Hours will increase as daylight hours expand during the summer. Day bed and cabana rates vary depending on the day. 

Encore Beach Club: Now open on Saturdays and Sundays (except Easter), the pool in the Encore at Wynn Las Vegas will begin offering headline DJs next month. A grand opening is scheduled for April 21, featuring sets by Size Matters artists Steve Angello of Swedish House Mafia and AN21. The next day brings in Tiesto, voted "The Greatest DJ of All Time" by Mixmag, to kick off Daystar Sundays. Beginning April 21, Recess Fridays will be added to the lineup.  

Marquee Dayclub: Stockholm dance music DJ Avicii kicks off the season April 21. Other DJs set for the season include Above & Beyond, Armin van Buuren, Arty, ATB, Benny Benassi, Cedric Gervais, Chuckie, Cosmic Gate, Dash Berlin, Dirty South, EDX, Erick Morillo, Gabriel & Dresden, Gareth Emery, Hardwell, Kaskade, Markus Schulz, Nicky Romero, RedFoo, Sander van Doorn, along with Sunnery James & Ryan Marciano. In addition to its eight cabanas, Marquee also has overnight bungalows with individual pools and an open-air party deck. 

Bagatelle Beach: The Tropicana kicks off a new day party theme on Memorial Day weekend with champagne brunch and poolside Mediterranean dining. It's aimed at being the beachside version of New York's Bistrot Bagatelle. Renovations of the beach and nightclub are under way, and it's all being managed by the ONE Group, which also has STK restaurant in the Cosmopolitan.

BEFORE YOU EVEN CONSIDER BUYING THIS CLUB:

Hi Richard, My name is Valente, I am interested in buying an existing club in ________________ I have not made the purchase yet, I am in the process of finding out, how they are doing now?  Here's the situation, the current owner is somewhat of an old friend, he tells me the reason he is selling are health problems, and he is too busy with his new business. The club has been around for four years now, I know for a fact, some people were set to buy the club two years ago for $400,000 but the deal did not go through. Now he is asking $350,000 and I could get it for max $300,000, maybe lower. It WAS A _______________ Restaurant but is no longer open for lunch or dinner, it's a straight club/lounge now, it can hold up to 500 ppl, and an additional 50 guests on the outside patio. The club presently is open only Friday Nights, the cover is $10 which he pays to a club promoter and he keeps the bar and bottle service revenue. The club is open from 10pm to 3am. The owner tells me on a bad night he has 180 clubbers come in, on a good Friday Night maybe up to 400. He only works with promoters when they take the door and he keeps the bar. MY RESPONSE: VALENTE, WHEN A CLUB IS OPEN ONLY ON FRIDAY NIGHTS, AND DOES NOT EVEN PACK THE CLUB, FRIDAY NIGHT IS BUSIEST NIGHT OF THE WEEK FOR CLUBS, THIS ALONE IS A RED FLAG. THEN HE TELLS YOU HIS HEALTH IS NOT GREAT, BUT HE IS TOO BUSY WITH HIS OTHER BUSINESS AS WELL TO OPERATE HIS CLUB. ( MAKES NO SENSE) HE RELIES ON A CLUB PROMOTER THAT TAKES HIS COVER CHARGE, AND HE KEEPS THE BAR REVENUE AS WELL AS THE BOTTLE SERVICE SALES. SERGE, I WOULD NOT EVEN MAKE AN OFFER ON THIS CLUB,  WITHOUT SITTING OUT FRONT OF HIS CLUB DOORS FOR A STRAIGHT MONTH AND COUNTING PEOPLE WHO COME IN ON FRIDAY NIGHTS, WHAT KIND OF PEOPLE THEY ARE, AND WHAT THEY ARE SPENDING @ THE BAR AS WELL. THIS WILL TAKE AT LEAST TWO TO THREE PEOPLE TO OBSERVE. I WOULD SCAN THE WEB FOR FEEDBACK AND PERCEPTION OF THIS CLUB, I WOULD REVIEW THE CLUBS HE IS COMPETING WITH,  I WOULD CHECK HIS LEASE, I WOULD CHECK WILL LOCAL LAW ENFORCEMENT AND NEIGHBORS ABOUT THEIR FEELINGS TOWARDS THIS CLUB, I WOULD CHECK WITH THE LIQUOR COMPANIES ON HIS ORDERING, I WOULD INSPECT THE ENTIRE CLUB FROM INSIDE , OUTSIDE. HIS BOOKS COULD VERY WELL BE COOKED, SO ACCOUNTING MEANS NOTHING.  I HAVE A COMPREHENSIVE "BEFORE I EVEN CONSIDER BUYING" QUESTIONNAIRE, THAT I CREATED, THUS AVOIDING NO SURPRISES OR NEGATIVES, THAT YOU ARE NOT AWARE OF. YOU CAN PURCHASE THIS CLUB FOR ALOT, ALOT LESS THAN THE NUMBERS YOU HAVE STATED. GOOD LUCK, BUT IT'S NOT LUCK THAT MAKES A CLUB SUCCESSFUL, IT'S "FUN", "WOW FACTORS" AND "FAB", WHICH ONE NIGHT A WEEK OPEN, WORKING WITH A CLUB PROMOTER, MAKES THIS CLUB TOTALLY VOID OF THE THREE MAIN ENERGIZERS.  WHY ARE YOU CLOSED ON WEDNESDAYS AND THURSDAY NIGHTS?

  Far too many Clubs, close on Nights they should be packed.

  Far too many Bars are open and slow on Nights they should be packed.

 Far too many Lounges are open and empty on Nights they should be packed.

 Far too many Sports Bars are open and have no sports fans on Nights they should be a Nite Life Adventure, not a Sports Bar.

Far too many Bar & Grills are open and have nobody but the same regulars on Nights, they should be packed, but they offer no "FUN", no "WOW FACTORS", no "FAB", just a total focus on "BAR BEGGING" with cheap beer & drinks.

The first move a Club Owner makes is to find a club promoter as if that is the answer, WRONG.

I have club promoters daily asking me for help, since they have just one night every other week at a club, and nobody is coming in.

Seriously, if your an Owner or a General Manager, "FUN UP", "WOW UP", "FAB UP" and take the reins of your Promotions, your Marketing, your NIGHTS.

Your losing tens of thousands of dollars, because you refuse to do, instead you accept defeat.

I "REFUZE TO LUZE". I will not allow any Food and Liquor or Liquor only establishment to suffer on Wednesday Nights, on Thursday Nights, on Friday Nights, on Saturday Nights, and on Sunday Nights, when Monday is a Holiday.

Far too many Owners do far too little, to generate far and away tremendous cash flow Nights.
