WHY YOU DON'T NEED CLUB PROMOTERS!
 
SENT TO ME BY A CLUB OWNER:
  Hi Rich, We lost our street team. Our nightclub is on__________________________. We lost our main promoters and now are looking for a new club promoter to promote our club. Help, how do we find a new club promoter and street team? Thx,  John
 
 MY RESPONSE: John, this is exactly why you do not ever rely on, or depend on club promoters. Now you the Owner are desperate for another club promoter and so called street team, when you, your GM, your Staff should be doing the actual planning, presenting, promoting of your Club! Why would you look to some other club promoter who makes outrageous demands such as:
1. A Guest List
2. A Bar Tab
3. Providing their own People @ the door
4. Giving them the entire cover charge
5. Letting in whomever they want.
6. They do not pay sales tax on what the revenue at the door is, and the State Revenue Department looks to you as the establishment to be responsible for paying this sales tax.
7. The only way you can reach your club promoter is by cell phone, you have no address for where they live, because they have no office.
8. The nights you let a club promoter take over your club, they are crazed with "POWER", they don't own the club, you do, yet the act as if they do.
9. You find empty pint bottles of liquor on your floor by the tables and chairs, because many of these people, these club promoters attract are not going to pay for drinks, but bring their own.
10. Club Promoters ask you to discount drinks, on top of them taking the door revenue.
11. Any advertising they do, their name or the name of their so called club promoter group is always bigger and bolder than even the name of your club, the date of the event, the entertainment for the night.
12. The so called Street Team who are suppose to hand out flyers, often dump them in the garbage.
13. PLEASE, NEVER, EVER, USE A CLUB PROMOTER AGAIN! HAVEN'T YOU LEARNED YOUR LESSON?

Rich, I am a club promoter, How are you? I'm hoping you might be able to give me some 'new and different' ideas for Halloween 2012. I have thought of offering $500 in prizes to 1st, 2nd, 3rd winners of a fancy dress competition. I know it's done to death, so hoping you can give me some more ideas.   
We will have a DJ, BBQ, Games room, Outside beer garden, Cocktails, Food

MY RESPONSE: Karen, one of the biggest nights in the Industry is "Halloween".
The typical format is simply a Contest held @ midnight and absolutely no "FUN", no "WOW FACTORS" and no "FAB" to bring in patrons early.
There is almost never a "THEME", that includes, Decorations, Staff Costumes,
Food, Beverage Tie Ins, Unique streams of income for that night, and a month, a full month in advance of marketing, promoting, pumping, pushing this very Special Night. This Year, Halloween falls on a Wednesday Night, which presents a bit of a challenge, due to Thursday being a work day. But keep in mind, People want to Party. With the economy being a rough and tough challenge, the Election weeks away, People want to escape to the greatest Halloween Night of their life. A DJ is a given, BBQ does not fit in the format, Games Room is fine, but it's everywhere, the Outside Beer Garden is a major
Ace for your night. Cocktails and Food all have to be thought out and geared to compliment the entire Night. Since you did not provide the name or location of the Club you are promoting at, I cannot give you specifics. What I can tell you is do not waste a penny on radio ads, or newspaper ads or typical standard flyer use. There is a great Flyer & Poster firm, www.flyerstarter.com you should contact them for a high energy online flyer and inhouse as well as a Poster to hang in local businesses. This is just the "Ice Cream " in a hot fudge sundae.
You still need the nuts, the hot fudge, the whipped cream and finally the cherry.
You have not even created the "Ice Cream" yet and the clock is ticking. This is why I 100% am opposed to Club Promoters, they are not creative, they have no background, no experience, no hands on knowledge on how to direct such a Monumental Night such as this. In fact, with all the thousands and thousands of dollars to generate, why would any club rely on an outsider, instead of working with their own staff, management and ownership??????
If you watched the "Bar Rescue" episode in West Palm Beach, you can see why no club should ever use club promoters. Any Owner ( OWNERS ONLY)  that finally realizes they need to work from within, and are serious about putting a line outside their club, lounge, sports bar, bar & grille, restaurant with night life for HALLOWEEN, don't hesitate, don't procrastinate, RIGHT NOW, 
 
 
THE TWO VIABLE MARKETING TOOLS THAT DOMINATE THE TECHNOLOGY
Today's Club, Bar, Lounge, Sports Bar, Strip Club, Gay Club Customer wants either a Text or email. That's their way of communicating.
They all want instant communication gratification.
As for texting, go to www.clubtexting.com contact Shane, tell him Rich Unger said to give you the best for less. Why attempt to do what this Dude has done for years? I still cannot believe how many Food and Beverage, just Beverage only establishments, have no web site of their own. The Owners are too cheap and think having a simple Facebook page is going to provide them with the exposure, reach, connection to patrons, regulars, new fresh faces. They could not be more wrong. You can't post every piece of content that a Restaurant or a Club requires simply on Facebook. Again, these Owners are "Wallet Walkers", they will not open their wallets to what this culture is all about. So they suffer.

to read the reviews on their establishments, they may be getting the most negative posted remarks, yet, they have no CLUE.
You don't just simply let people, competitors, customers, write what can destroy what you have worked so hard for, you respond in the ways that I have created, so that the Positive always out weighs the negative. Sorry, I am not going to simply put my "Expertise" out there. You figure it out. My Father who owned restaurants and Ranch Resorts in New York, owned Nightclubs and Restaurants in Fort Lauderdale, once said to me " you never lay over and let any other place take your business". I never ever forgot those words. I worked with my Father doing every dirty job possible, and every job he had within his food and beverage businesses. I loved working with my Father, he was Smooth, he was Sharp, he was Sophisticated, Jon Hamm's character on "MAD MEN", "Don Draper", reminds me so much of my Father to the "T".  My Uncle Mel who owns a infamous Hotel and Restaurant in Palm Springs and has written three books about his escapades and his life also is another one of my Mentors.
My Uncle took Palm Springs by storm, opening the greatest Nightclub ever built in the desert out there. Then he took a Restaurant and made it legendary, still operating with him in charge as well as a hotel. These are Men who lived and live their businesses. They were not absentee Owners, they were not easy to work for, they demanded and still do "RESPECT". They used the media to their advantage, the same way I do now and have done for decades. They ignited "FUN", "WOW FACTORS" and "THE FAB", but always before any other place did and always remarkable in presentation. This may be a little over the heads of those who want instant gratification, but for that go play with your new iPHONE 5.
Anyway, my point is There Are Two Viable Marketing Tools That Dominate The Technology and no an "APP" is not one. What an ego trip, so you have an APP for your Club, the problem is in most areas, nobody wants it. What does your "APP" provide? Unless your in Vegas, New York, SOBE, LA, IBIZA, ChiTown, where the Real Action is, oh let's throw in Atlantic City, then the "APP" is actually useless. Email RichUnger@promotingnightclubs.com

BUT..............................IF YOUR GOING TO RUN A TIGHT SHIP, ZERO TOLERANCE FROM BOTH STAFF AND CUSTOMERS, NO RADIO SPOTS, NO OVER BUYING FROM LIQUOR SALESMEN, NO IGNORING CRITICAL HOLIDAYS, NO PRINT ADS, NO FLYERS, EXCEPT TO USE FROM FLYERSTARTER IN A CERTAIN METHOD, I HIGHLY RECOMMEND, IF YOUR GOING TO REVAMP, REFORMAT, RENEW, REPOSITION, REINVENT, RETAKE YOUR NIGHTS, THEN YOU WILL BE AROUND IN SIX MONTHS FLUSH WITH CASH.
YOUR PROCLIVITY TO LISTEN TO THOSE WHO HAVE NO EXPERTISE, AND SPEND ON WHAT THEY SAY WILL BRING IN PARONS, BUT NEVER DOES. WHEN DO YOU HAVE AN EPHIANY?

NOBODY WANTS TO BUY A PLACE WITH NEXT TO NO BUSINESS, GOODWILL AMOUNTS TO MORE THAN YOUR FIXTURES AND KITCHEN EQUIPMENT. FUNNY THING ABOUT KITCHEN EQUIPMENT YOU BUY A HOOD FOR $5000 WHEN YOU GO TO SELL YOUR PLACE, THEY GIVE YOU A $1000 FOR THE SAME HOOD THAT IS NOT EVEN A YEAR OLD.
REMEMBER EVERYTHING "ATTACHED" TO THE FLOORS AND WALLS ARE ACTUALLY THE LANDLORD'S PROPERTY. BUT AS USUAL MANY OWNERS RIP EVERYTHING DOWN AND END UP BEING SUED. WHY BRING IN THE LAWYERS, THEY ARE THE ONLY ONES WHO END UP MAKING $
INSTEAD OF SELLING WHY NOT TRY SUCCEEDING.
THAT'S RIGHT, REVAMP, REINVENT, RENEW, REPOSITION.

             I'm a DJ and I'm trying to build Sat nights to be big...the club has a nice draw but I want it to be explosive, I already give out hundreds of glow sticks a night which I provide but I want it to be bigger...help...lol  John. Doesn't your Owner want Saturday Nights to be "bigger"as well as you?

 Rich, This thursday is highlighter party. everyone wears white & highlighters are handed out @ the door. $5 admission & open bar to everyone in white until 11pm. after 11pm, i think admission is 10-15
We are having 18 to party 21 to drink. the promoter takes 100% of door & pays dj. we pay security & bar back. so we dont make any $ off of the 18-20yr olds which is about 50% off the crowd. and the 21yr olds are not spending enough money. we will ring about 2-2500 on avg. My Partner will not listen to me, I know this deal is just one sided all the way.
The place is def more of a club then bar. was just redone 1yr ago. we are only open 1 night per wk, if we just open the doors & dont promote nobody comes in. we are a few doors down from ______________________. Help, Charles

We are new owners of an old full nude strip club, ________________ in _______________________.


 
We are looking for a promoter to set up a cage fight or some other type of active promotion, for a great deal of action.

 
My  partner lives there and runs it and actually ran the very same club for a previous owner 6 years ago, so he knows the area, club, vendors, etc.

 
We've been open 6 weeks now and starting to get going.

 
Do you do this kind of thing or if not, know someone that does?

MY RESPONSE: Hey Jason, why look for a promoter?
Your partner ran this club for the previous owner, six years ago.
I must disagree, he does not know the area, club, vendors, etc., any longer, it's been six years. Everyone and Everything in this biz has changed.
I can pack this club, but first, I must tell you, it has the worse comments about any "Strip Club" I have ever read. It's not just about "THE GIRLS", but you better have great girls, the simple rule is Female Exotic Dancers FLOCK to where the money is , and FLEE from where there is none to be made. How do you become a FLOCK over a FLEE Club, simple, you add, enhance, expand, and entice your customers with what no other club is offering in your area. Stop doing the same old strip club routine, and try the "RICHIE RIGHT" Ways to pack them in, MEN , who spend.
Email, RichUnger@promotingnightclubs.com, but only if your a Strip Club Owner, because if you work there, and you care more about this club than the Owner, quit and go elsewhere. Happy Halloween!
