NO CLUB/BAR NEEDS A CLUB PROMOTER
 
It's Thanksgiving Month and No Club/Bar/Lounge needs any so called "club promoter". For once, do not give your MONEY, that's right, YOUR MONEY to some stranger, to bring in patrons who DO NOT SPEND, DO NOT TIP, DO NOT ACT PROPERLY, DO NOT DRESS PROPERLY, PRIMARILY ARE MEN, DO NOT DO IT!
This is your Month, the next 9 Months are the Money, Money, Months. You the Owner, your Manager, your Staff can do it bigger, better, and bolder than any so called club demoter, I mean promoter. Take the "Night Before Thanksgiving" one of the biggest nights of the year. You don't need some stranger to bring you in people, and take your door money.
YOU HAVE TOO MANY HUGE NIGHTS AHEAD BEFORE 2012 GOES INTO 2013. DO NOT, DO NOT, DO NOT, WORK WITH ANY CLUB PROMOTERS.
This is all your MONEYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY.
The problem you face is the fear factor, the unknown, the lack of self confidence to pack your own place with women, women, women and men who spend. Yes You Can. Yes You Will. Of course there is a method to the madness of marketing, advertising and promoting your own Nights, but it does not ever require radio spots, handing out paper ads, hanging up paper ads up, putting print ads in free or paid publications. Sure Facebook will help, but it is not the end all result driven online media outlet.
The culmination of a RECORD NIGHT BEFORE THANKSGIVING requires starting four weeks ahead of the Night, with pumping, pushing and packing that Night. Stop being lazy, Stop relying on Others, Stop thinking your just going to be packed anyway. WRONG. Not this Year!
You have to be "DRIVEN" in this business. There are Six kinds of Owners, the first is the Owner who is in this biz for the $, that's my Owner, the second is the ego Owner who simply wants to say " I own this place" and let's anything go, the third is the "Skirt Chasing Owner, he wants to sleep with not just the female employees but customers as well, finally we have the Never @ their Place Owner who is rarely on premise, so it is anything goes business, which is a disaster, ah, the Owner who knows it all, but fails at every step, and finally the Partnership Owners, who argue about every single issue, nobody knows who is actually in charge. Many of these Owners are so desperate they turn to club promoters, the worse mistake they ever made. How can you be reliant upon a club promoter to take your business, your image, your reputation, your perception and let them run wild with

I mean they are actually taking over YOUR business and running it, while you depend upon the bar for revenue on that night. Totally insane in the brain, makes no sense, you can't even justify this type of business arrangement, nor should you. If you ever watch "Bar Rescue" even Taffer The Terror chased off a club promoter.
Some Owners put tens of thousands, even hundreds of thousands of dollars into their club, they tell me "Everyone says I have the nicest club in the area", but yet, they turn to club promoters, because after creating this magnificent Bar, Club, Lounge, Sports Bar, Restaurant with Night Life, Strip Club, Gay Club, NOBODY comes in.
Let me make this as perfectly clear as I can, For the next nine months you do not, you have no need of, you should not let any club promoter in your place for any reason, other to spend their own $ as a customer. THAT'S IT ! Now you can find out your strengths, your weaknesses and consider your options. You have everything to gain, nothing to lose. If your Friday and Saturday Nights are erratic, up and down, fill out this form.
If your only open three nights a week, fill out this form, if your place has low morale, no direction, poor image, less than quality patrons, fill out this form. Because at the end of the day, your either going to make tens of thousands of additional dollars each month, or your going to suffer. When you are hurting, you take the easy and worse way out, you work with a club promoter. You put all your trust on what you think this club promoter can do. But when the wrong crowd shows up, your packed, but it's not your demographics, it's not who you wanted, they are not spending, in fact they bring in their own pints, they don't tip, they curse, and they scare your female customers, and there they are taking over your club. THIS IS NOT ABOUT RACE, I DON'T CARE IF THEY ARE YELLOW, PURPLE, GREEN, WHITE, BLUE OR BLACK. It's the lack of civility and regard for your place that they display. Then it begins, the destructive nature of the element begins. You suddenly find your club or bar in purgatory.
Bottle Service becomes almost non existent, VIP? Not with this crowd.
Look @ your rest rooms. Look at how your club appears when the night is over. Do not expect the club promoter to care, the club promoter has taken the door money and is gone with their people.
And you want to go through this disaster again? Ever see any club promoters at bar/club conventions? NEVAH. I am a CONSULTANT, I WANT NOTHING TO DO WITH, NEVER HAVE WORKED WITH ANY club promoter. Here are two examples of club promoter types contacting me:

Hi Mike, I would suggest you continue to "Love" going out, "Meeting" people, and "GOING" to new places as a patron, a clubber, a party person. You are "OUTGOING", and "SUPER FUN" to be around. Your just the type of person, people would enjoy meeting. These are not the attributes for attempting to be a club promoter. These are the personality traits of a Person who should have loads of friends and be happy in their lives. I do not endorse, assist, or guide anyone to be a so called club promoter, there is no need for them. HAPPY THANKSGIVING, go out and have you, your friends wear ties and button down shirts, dress up, do what I do every year, simply ask for the Turkeys for our Wounded Soldiers in your area and take all these great personality traits and really put them to good use, helping our TRUE HEROS during this Holiday Season. That would be a real way to help!
 
 
Hey rich I am trying to promote this club I actually just started, I got the job today..My promotion nights are wed and sat..The club been open four about 3 years for two years was great when I was going, now all the good promoters left and he hired me. the place ben dead for a min but I think I can make it come alive again im motivated. <y plan is for wed dolike a college night 18 and up nice and colorful and free..we going to be very cautious...marking underage with and ex and bouncer to make sure everything good. The cover charge is going to be five dollars also for sat going to be like a sexy night for 21 and up free drinks from 9to11... i dont know about getting the crowd.no one believes in this club no more how can i change that...and make it successful , Jeff
 
Hey Jeff, STOP, LOOK, LISTEN. If all the so called "good" club promoters left, the club is sinking fast. The reason these vultures left, there is no meat left to eat.  To do a Wednesday  college night, 18 and up, nice and colorful and free, you are going to be very cautious, the cover charge is going to be $5 and nobody is going to show up. Saturday Nights  is going to be like a sexy night for 21 and up, free drinks 9 to 11, you will not have a crowd, if no one believes in this club anymore, no one is going to come to this club. You can't change this image, it took a long time for this club to sink this deep and you are the one to rise it from the bottom of the sunk clubs. Successful would take Major Expertise, an Owner who is willing to commit the money, the time, the energy, the consistency, and the patience to rebuild this club. AND YOU WONDER WHY YOUR SO SLOW????

LETTING STAFF GO, NOT EASY BUT OFTEN NECCESSARY, ESPECIALLY THIS TIME OF YEAR:
It's never easy, to discharge someone from your Bar, Club, Sports Bar, Lounge, Bar & Grill, but it is a necessary action. I am often baffled watching Jon Taffer go through his "BAR RESCUE" ACT and after watching the most unacceptable behavior on the part of Managers, Bartenders, Servers, Kitchen Staff, Bar Backs, DJs, Taffer let's them continue to work at the bar, even though he has total control over what goes on, while he is in charge and the Owner has signed the very air tight contract to even be part of the "Bar Rescue Soap Opera".
Yes, once in awhile a bartender will walk out, when caught with their hand in the till, and even once an Owner who was a skirt chaser, fired one of his favorite skirts, but 99% OF THE TIME, so many staff, who need to "GO GONE BABY GONE" Taffer keeps on. Perhaps , looking the other way, or to add some
edge to the particular episode. But in the REAL BAR WORLD, there is little patience for over pouring, outright taking cash, not ringing up sales, does not matter how big a following the bartender has, the reason they have that loyal customer base is, THEY ARE GIVING THE BAR AWAY............................
The most guilty Owners of allowing poorly performing staff to remain, are absentee Owners, because basically, THEY HAVE NO CLUE. They rarely know the real behind the scenes nonsense that is going on, UNLESS.............they have cameras, you don't need "WILD WILLIE" the Steakhouse King of NY to sit in an empty, vacant storefront, and tell you, what you can see yourself @ home or in your office. I always suggest hiding the cameras, hide the monitors, do not let anyone know. With THE MONEY MONTHS here, now , more than ever, cameras from "BEST BUY" and monitors are the best weapons against the proclivity of some employees to break rules, violate policies and basically break the law. You never discharge, let someone go for stealing, no way, I learned that early on, when I did just that years and years ago, I received a letter from an Atty for the ex employee, that threatened me with slander and unsubstantiated remarks resulting in their termination. When you let someone go, and another establishment calls you for a REFERENCE, the only remark you can make without any concern is " I WOULD NOT HIRE THAT PERSON AGAIN",  that's it. Not one word more. When you have two employees dating, and you move to fire one, keep in mind, the other is 95% of the time, going to also leave. BUT, if they do stay on, they have resentment and animosity towards you, so they should be laid off as well. It's never easy, especially, when they have been long time employees, but at the end of the day, when you are short in the cash register again, when your liquor bottles reflect missing liquor, beer pours are not balancing, it's time for whomever is the guilty party to go. YOU CANNOT AFFORD TO CONTINUE TO ALLOW YOUR MONEY TO GO INTO AN EMPLOYEE'S POCKETS. IT'S YOUR LIVELYHOOD, IT'S JUST A JOB TO THEM. This Generation due to the technology they grew up , are inundated with, want INSTANT GRATIFICATION, they know not of the pain, suffering, sacrifices  of others in the past , just to get where they are. Nor do they care. That is why the discipline, the consistency, the quality, the demand for dedication must be hammered into their Apple Phone heads. Their favorite saying is "NOT A PROBLEM", my response is, " OF COURSE IT'S NOT".  Having staffing problems, don't post on craigs list and get every person who ever sat @ a bar or ate in a restaurant.

HOW CAN YOU NOT TAKE CREDIT CARDS?
IT'S 2012 AND CAN YOU BELIEVE THERE ARE STILL BAR OWNERS, LOUNGE OWNERS, EVEN SOME EATERY OWNERS THAT WILL NOT ACCEPT CREDIT CARDS. IT IS FINANCIAL FREE FALL, TO DENY CUSTOMERS THE USE OF BANK CARDS, CHECK CARDS, DEBIT CARDS, CREDIT CARDS, ESPECIALLY NOW, THAT YOU CAN CHARGE A SURCHARGE, ALTHOUGH I WOULD NOT RECOMMEND IT, YOU CAN DUE TO A RECENTLY SETTLED DISPUTE. YOU CAN REQUIRE YOUR PATRONS SPEND "X" AMOUNT OF DOLLARS IN ORDER TO USE THEIR PLASTIC.
BUT TO THE OWNERS STILL OPERATING IN "THE DAY", YOU ARE SERIOUSLY LOSING HUNDREDS OF THOUSANDS OF DOLLARS YEARLY, BY DEMANDING YOUR PATRONS PAY IN CASH. SO YOU HAVE AN ATM MACHINE, THAT IS SO ANTIQUATED, WHY CHARGE YOUR CUSTOMERS TO TAKE OUT MONEY FROM YOUR MACHINE, THAT THEY ARE ONLY GOING TO SPEND INSIDE YOUR PLACE? IT IS AN INSULT AND PURE GREED TO RELY ON ATM FEES AS INCOME, WHEN IN REALITY, YOU SHOULD BE HONORING AND ACCEPTING MASTER CARD, VISA, AMERICAN EXPRESS AND DISCOVER. THE DAYS OF THE ATM ARE OVAH. THE DAYS OF ONLY ACCEPTING COLD HARD CASH ARE OVAH. AND YOU WONDER WHY YOUR REVENUE IS DOWN? BECAUSE YOU ARE NOT OPENING UP EVERY SINGLE AVENUE OF CASH FLOW THAT EXISTS. YOU SHOULD NEVER EVER BORROW MONEY AGAINST YOUR CHARGE CARD BUSINESS. FIRST THE INTEREST RATES ARE WAY TOO HIGH, SECOND, IF YOUR BAR, CLUB, LOUNGE, BAR AND GRILL, SPORTS BAR, RESTAURANT, CAN'T SUSTAIN ITSELF ON THE CASH AND CREDIT CARD BUSINESS IT GENERATES, YOUR DOING ALOT WRONG. YOU EITHER READ IT FROM ME OR YOU KEEP MAKING UP EXCUSES, BUT THE COLD HARSH STARK FACTS ARE, YOU ARE NOT DOING IT RIGHT. THESE ARE THE MONEY MONTHS, YOU SHOULD BE PACKED FOUR NIGHTS A WEEK. YOU CAN OPERATE IN A WORLD OF DENIAL, BUT NOT FOR LONG. YOU LOSE STAFF, YOU LOSE CUSTOMERS, YOU BECOME ANOTHER PERSON, AND YOU END UP CLOSED. How to Reposition your menu so that you are on a level playing field with OUTBACK and APPLEBEE'S as well as every Chain that is in the Food Price Fight of their business lives. This is "WAR", and you are either going to stop standing your price ground out of arrogance, or your going to create a menu of less priced items to satisfy those who do not want to spend more and more. Look to your bar to make up the difference. For once focus on the night life,but do not pay any outsider to pack your own place.Yes, RESTAURANTS SHOULD BE MORE THAN PLACES TO DINE, THEY SHOULD AFTER FOOD SERVICE BE NIGHT LIFE ADVENTURES. PLACES TO D AND P, AKA, DANCE & PARTY. That is where you make serious money with no Chef, no food costs, labor costs that are bleeding you dry. Quite the opposite. Does it happen overnight No. I know of a great location restaurant, that throws darts at a board, trying anything and everything with no CONSISTENCY OF ANY KIND. Thus the locals, have no clue what to expect, so they choose not to go there.IT'S NOT JUST ABOUT THE MUSIC. Wake up it's 2012.
