HERE IS WHAT HAPPENS THE MAJORITY OF THE TIME, WHEN A DJ IS DELEGATED WITH THE RESPONSIBILITY, OF PRODUCING A PACKED NIGHT, A FRIDAY NIGHT CROWD, JUST EVERY THIRD FRIDAY:
My name is DJ ___________ I am the club manager of ___________ nightclub,
I started a new promotion about 3 months ago every third Friday,
The numbers have improved month after month but they aren't what I am wanting them to be at,
We are currently making money off of the promotion and we do get a crowd between 300-400
But I am wanting it to be a 700 people night.

CLUB PROMOTERS OFFER NOTHING.

THEY BRING NOTHING TO A CLUB, THAT AN OWNER AND HIS STAFF CANNOT DO AND FAR BETTER.
CLUB DJs HAVE A MAJOR RESPONSIBILITY TO TAKE THEIR GIG TO THE HIGHEST LEVEL, WHICH IS BEING A "VJ", NO LONGER JUST A BASIC, BORING, CLUB DJ.
CLUB DJS SHOULD ADD "PRODUCER" TO THEIR TALENTS, SKILLS, AND PERFORMANCE.
CLUB DJS SHOULD NEVER EVER ATTEMPT, NOR ASSIGN THEMSELVES AS "CLUB PROMOTERS".
DON'T EVEN THINK ABOUT BEING A CLUB PROMOTER, START DOING WHAT IT TAKES TO UP YOUR GAME, YOUR EXPERIENCE, YOUR PERFORMANCE, AND YOUR OWN SIGNATURE IMAGE.
WHILE DEADMAU5, SKRILLEX, STEVE AKOKI, MOBY, KASKADE, AND GUETTA ARE AT THE TOP OF THEIR GAME.
YOU NEED TO TAKE A DIFFERENT APPROACH TO REACHING WHAT THEY CALL IN MINOR LEAGUE BASEBALL, "THE SHOW", THAT'S WHEN A PLAYER IS SENT UP TO THE MAJORS.
CLUB DJS NEED TO TRANSFORM INTO CLUB VJs.
THE NIGHTS OF SIMPLY WEARING A TSHIRT, JEANS, A BASEBALL CAP, AND COMING IN TO YOUR GIG TO SPIN WITH NO VIDEO ARE OVER.
VIDEO IS A MUST IN CLUBS.
ARTISTS SPEND EXCESSIVE AMOUNTS OF MONEY ON CREATIVE VIDEOS TO CAPITVATE AND CONNECT TO THEIR FANS, THE INTENSITY OF THEIR MUSIC.
FROM EDM TO BPM TO DAFT PUNK, VIDEOS ARE MANDATORY IN CLUBS.
NO MORE DJ BOOTHS, BUT RATHER TRUSS TABLES, AND OPEN AIR PERFORMANCES, NO MORE JUST LIGHTS, INTELLIGENT LIGHTING WHICH IS OUTDATED. "LED" IS THE LEADING NEW EDGY LIGHT TECHNIQUE FOR YOUR DANCE FLOOR. BUT NOT ENOUGH............................
FROM NOW ON, THE VIDEO SCREEN EITHER MOUNTED IN THE AIR FACING DOWN TO THE DANCE FLOOR OR MOUNTED IN AIR VERTICALLY, TOTALLY CONTROLLED BY THE VJ.

CLUB OWNERS, PLEASE NO EXCUSES.
CLUB DJs, YOU CAN EITHER SPIN FROM YESTERDAY, OR SPIN VIDEO TO TOMORROW.
NO WONDER YOUR DANCE FLOOR HAS NO "ENERGY", YOUR SPINNING AS IF IT'S 1999 INSTEAD OF 2013.

CLUB DJs NEED TO SERIOUSLY EXPAND THEIR PERFORMANCE, NO LONGER ARE LED, SMOKE AND MIRRORS THE SPECIAL EFFECTS THAT MAKE A DJ'S ATTRACTION THE BEST IT CAN BE.
NOW, IT'S ALL ABOUT VIDEO JOCKS, WHO TAKE AN ARTIST'S VIDEO, BLENDS, MIXES, PROJECTS THE VIDEO ON A HUGE SCREEN, THAT IS HIGH AND ABOVE THE DANCE FLOOR, AND BRINGS THE CROWD TO AN ENTIRELY NEW EXPERIENCE FROM NOT JUST THE MUSIC BUT THE VISUAL MOMENTS COMBINED.
WHY DO YOU THINK THE "MTV VIDEO MUSIC AWARDS" ARE VIEWED BY MILLIONS OF VIEWERS.
WHY DO YOU THINK RECORD COMPANIES, EVEN INDEPENDENT LABELS SPEND HUNDREDS OF THOUSANDS OF DOLLARS ON AN ARTIST'S VIDEOS?
WHY DO YOU THINK MUSIC VIDEOS ARE NOW AS VITAL AS THE MUSIC ITSELF?
STOP SPINNING IN DENIAL. STOP IGNORING THE REALITY OF MUSIC VIDEOS.
HAVE A FRIEND VIDEO TAPE YOUR OWN FRIDAY NIGHT PERFORMANCE, JUST FOCUSED ON YOU AND THE CROWD ON THE DANCE FLOOR.

A. GOOD MANAGEMENT STARTS WITH HIRING THE RIGHT PERSON.
THE SUBTLE DIFFERENCE THAT GREAT MANAGERS POSESS, IS THEY TAKE THEIR TIME TO DETERMINE EXACTLY WHAT THE JOB IS, WHAT THEY EXPECT FROM A NEW EMPLOYEE, STRAIGHT UP, NOTHING HELD BACK.
THEY LOOK FOR THE PROSPECTIVE EMPLOYEE'S REACTION, ARE THEY EXCITED AND READY TO WORK, OR HESITANT, DEBATING IF THEY REALLY WANT THE JOB?
B. GREAT MANAGERS, KNOW EXACTLY THE TYPE OF PERSON, WHO WOULD SUCCEED IN THE JOB. EVERY FOOD AND BEVERAGE JOB REQUIRES UNIQUE TALENTS AND ATTITUDES. KNOW THEM AND MAKE SURE THE PROSPECTIVE EMPLOYEE HAS A COMPLETE UNDERSTANDING OF THE JOB.
C. GREAT MANAGERS CAN DEFUSE AN EMPLOYEE SITUATION IN PRIVATE, WITH A FAIR AND JUST RESOLUTION. NO CURSING, NO YELLING, A TOTAL AIR OF CIVILITY.
D. NEVER USE FEAR OR THREATS TO YOUR EMPLOYEES, THEY WILL TURN ON YOU IN A NY MINUTE.
E. BE THE FIRST ONE AT THE BAR, AT THE CLUB AT THE RESTAURANT, BE THE LAST ONE TO LEAVE.
F. DON'T DRINK ON THE JOB. YOUR A LEADER, YOU EARN RESPECT, ADMIRATION, AND SOMEONE YOUR EMPLOYEES CAN GO TO FOR BOTH WORK AND PERSONAL PROBLEMS.
G. NEVER EVER GET INVOLVED ROMANTICALLY WITH EMPLOYEES, THIS IS PURE HELL. WANT A RELATIONSHIP, FIND A CUSTOMER WHO IS SINGLE, AVAILABLE AND GO FOR IT. I ALWAYS PURSUED SMART, BEAUTIFUL WOMEN, MY ENTIRE LIFE. I HAD 300 MODELS WORK FOR ME, I NEVER EVER HIT ON, OR CAME ON TO, OR DATED ONE OF THEM. THEY TRUSTED ME AND RESPECTED ME.
H. ALWAYS PUT THE CUSTOMER FIRST WHEN ISSUES OF SERVICE, DRINKS, FOOD, PRESENTATION ARISE. WHY CREATE A NEGATIVE EXPERIENCE. A SMILE AND ACTION ARE WHAT CUSTOMERS WANT. OF COURSE IF THE PATRON IS DRUNK, OR OUT OF LINE, OR TAKING ADVANTAGE, YOU DO NOT RESPOND IN KIND. YOU ARE FIRM, POLITE, PROFESSIONAL BUT ZERO TOLERANCE.
I. DO WHAT YOUR EMPLOYEES DO, CLEAR TABLES, EXPEDITE FOOD, TABLE TOUCH, SO THAT CUSTOMERS KNOW THE MANAGER CARES.
J. STAY CLOSE TO YOUR SOCIAL MEDIA MARKETING PERSON, DO NOT ALLOW OUTDATED CONTENT TO REMAIN ONLINE. MAXIMIZE ALL OF THE SOCIAL MEDIA AND REMEMBER VIDEO IS FAR MORE IMPORTANT THAN WORD CONTENT.
K. PROMOTE EVENTS, CONCEPTS, THEMES, PARTIES, CELEBRATIONS, GATHERINGS, HAPPENINGS, CONTESTS, NO LESS THAN A MONTH IN ADVANCE BOTH IN HOUSE, ONLINE AND ALL MEDIA WISE.
M. LET YOUR OWNER KNOW, YOU ARE THE BEST THERE IS, MAKE SURE YOU ARE FAIRLY COMPENSATED, SO IS YOUR STAFF. IF YOU HAVE AN OWNER WHO IS ARROGANT, IGNORANT AND DRINKS, OR DOES DRUGS, FIND ANOTHER MANAGER JOB AT A COMPETING ESTABLISHMENT, NEVER LEAVE, UNTIL YOU HAVE ANOTHER PLACE TO GO, AND HELP YOUR STAFF FIND OTHER JOBS AS WELL.
YOU CAN'T RUN A BAR "ON THE FLY"
Rich, My Wife and I own a bar in____________. I was wondering if you could think of a way for us to make money over this weekend with some type of last minute promotion that would include Friday and Saturday night as well as Football Sunday.

RODNEY, Week in Week out, I watch Bar Owners, Bar Managers attempt to pull off "Last Minute, Hail Mary Promotions".
They post it on Facebook on Thursday, and think that the "POST", will pack their bar. WRONG. Rodney, asking for "ways to make money" with "last minute promotions" is a total SURRENDER FLAG.
You are panicking, you are scared, and you are lost.
You cannot ever run a bar "ON THE FLY".
It takes as I have said over 1000x times, a full month of advanced Marketing, Promoting, Presenting, Pushing, Pumping, to pack a bar for a promotion.
That is why, it makes perfect sense to take that Promotion, and run with it for 8 straight weeks.
What purpose does it serve to pack your bar for a "NIGHT" and then the next week be empty again?
I will never, ever understand Owners, Managers who work to pack a night with a great crowd, then abandon the Concept, instead of capitalizing on it.
When I was Director of Marketing/Promotions @ an upscale club, I hosted "WOW FACTORS" two nights a week that during Spring Break were packed.
When Spring Break ended, the Owners told me, "Let's end the promotions".
I was ADAMANT about continuing the two nights, targeting locals.
The Owners put their faith in me.
We ran these two Promotions for over two years.
When "SPRING BREAK" returned we were packed, when it was over, the two nights were if not packed, at least more than half packed.
Now, you tell me of TWO NIGHTS you have had the same Promotions on, that packed your bar or club for over TWO YEARS?
When Rodney pleads for "instant cash" he does not GET IT!!!!
Being a Bar Owner, a Club Owner, a Lounge Owner, a Sports Bar Owner, a Bar & Grille Owner, it's not about a one night stand.
Sure you should host 1 Night Promotions, but you also must create "CONSTANT CONCEPTS" that you present weekly.
You build up these nights, you create nights that you OWN the local night life area with. You never ever "Panic Promote" by last minute Face Book postings and hoping people respond to cheap beer and wings , or ladies drink free, you have to have AUTHENTICITY, not
COMPLICITY. Nobody ever said the Food and Beverage Business or the Beverage Business was easy, what many have said along with myself is, "THERE IS PLENTY OF $ TO BE MADE, IF YOU DO IT RIGHT".
Rodney, what you ask of me is "WRONG".

HOW CAN I COMPENSATE MY NON TIPPING EMPLOYEES MORE $ ?
You own a popular restaurant, you open for lunch and dinner, you do very well.
Your Servers are very well compensated for their service.
But your Kitchen Staff, who gets the orders out within 12 minutes, regardless of how packed the "Front Of The House" is, are paid, but not given anything extra, because you don't have it.
You as an Owner of a Restaurant that holds from 150 to 200 plus dining patrons, need to take a long, hard, look @ "Night Life".
I have taken four star Seafood Restaurants, Upscale Steakhouses, some on the water, some off the beaten path, some just good "BAR & GRILLES", others Family Oriented Eateries.
What they all have in common is, ONCE, the food service ends, the Restaurant CLOSES.
Think about this:
1. The Momentum of OPENING Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday Nights ( Monday is a legal holiday) from 10:00pm till 2am.
2. Catering to an Upscale, Young Professional, Especially Young Women of Means. ( 21 to 45 )
Women are making more money than ever before.
3. Having a Stylish, Trendy, "SMART PHONE SPENDERS CROWD" is exactly what you want, and what you welcome into your "NIGHT LIFE ADVENTURE".
4. No Hip Hop Garbage, I created a genre of Music called "POP HOP" this is exactly what you want to spin along with Videos on a huge screen that costs you nothing, but a trip to "Home Depot".
5. If you have a bar fine, if you don't no problem. If you have a dance floor fine, if you don't no problem.
6. The Streams of Revenue come from:
A Cover Charge you implement
A Small Plates Late Nite Bites Menu
A Signature Party Drink
A Hourly Service of Cocktails, Shots, Beer
A Brand New Approach to "Bottle Service"
A Brand New Approach to "VIP AREA", Guests don't have to order a "BOTTLE" to sit in the "VIP AREA". But they will pay.
This new "CASH COW" gives you the ability to additionally compensate your Kitchen Staff.
We are talking about tens of thousands of dollars a Month in Fresh NEW Revenue.
Instead of waiting to go home these four nights each week, instead of turning the key to closed, OPEN to the Night Life Adventure..........
This Late Night Format in no way, no shape, no form, affects your Dining Guests.
Look, it's time you realized that the Restaurant Business has dramatically changed, The Food Channel no longer touts shows exclusively about an individual "CHEF", who they make famous.
Those days are gone.
Give me a young person fresh out of Culinary School over a set in their ways Chef, any day. Give me a restaurant that has a bar and seats 150 and I will put 200 mostly Women, and Men who spend in that room after food service ends at 10pm, four nights a week.
