It's all yours now. I am overwhelmed with questions from Sons/Daughters, who have finally taken control of their Family's Club or Bar or Sports Bar.
Yup, Their Father, has decided it's time.
He of course will stop in now and then, but the day to night daily operations belong to the young one.
Where do they start.
First, a total evaluation of their Staff, who is strong, who is weak, who is dependable, who is unreliable, who is dedicated, who could care less, who is prompt on time, who comes in late all the time.
Second, review the entire format of the establishment. It's strengths, weaknesses.
Third, what needs to be repaired, remodeled, reinvented, refreshed, so that your Father's Place is now transformed into what your perceive and want it to be.
Fourth, your customer base, do you have enough women coming in, why or why not?
Fifth, What does your Father's Marketing consist of, radio, NO MORE, cancel it. Print Ads, No More Cancel them. Flyers, Are you kidding me?
Face Book, and no Web Site?????
You can't Master Social Media without the Platforms that generate packed nights.
Only One Form of Marketing is more potent than Social Media Marketing.
Sixth, Image and Perception of your Father's Establishment.
What is known for that is positive, what's the negativity Factors?
Time to give serious thought to the direction you want to take it.
Seventh, Your Craft Beer Presence, Your Father only has three or four Crafts, he was resistant to going against the Old Favorites.
But times have changed, so have your new generation.
Eighth, A Complete Analysis of your Inventory Control, who has access to your liquor, beer, wine. What is the Protocol for taking bottles from the liquor Room and who has authority to do so?
What Camera System, do you have in place, are the cameras strategically placed?
These Dynamics are Basic Priorities, that must be addressed, immediately, upon taking over your Father's Control.
It's time for major changes, but don't rush to transform, without first, obtaining the Best Expertise you can.
This is no time for hesitation or procrastination.
I have never seen so many New Owners, "PAUSE", instead of "ACT".

Their friends come in, and the Employee forgets they have a job to do.
One employee is dating another.
The Manager is dating an employee.
Never should any of these issues be tolerated, but far too often they are.
E. FROZEN FOOD, CANNED FOOD, How can any restaurant or bar serve such GARBAGE?
Farm Fresh, Locally Grown, Made from Fresh Ingredients, lower sodium, lower cholesterol, lower fat. Your Food can still taste Great without the excessive over use of SALT and SUGAR.
Every Good Chef knows how to create great dishes without Frozen or Canned Foods.
This excessive over indulgence of simplicity in cooking vs Healthy Servings is now backfiring, because Millennials don't want the Old Ways any longer.
F. GIVING AWAY THE BAR, why Owners of Bars think offering Ladies free drinks, or hosting All You Can Drink Nights are the only way to do business, is simply "Bar Begging". What prevents your Bar from attracting "The Right Crowd" rather than The Cheap Crowd". You are the reason! You Panic Promote. You can't fathom the FACT, People will come to your bar, if you give them "WOW" instead of "HOW" much a drink is.
G. LACK OF HANDS ON OWNERSHIP * MANAGEMENT
How can a Staff respect an Owner who shows no interest in his Bar or Restaurant? He or She are never there.
