D. I. Y. NEWEST WAY TO SERVE
PATRONS!
By Rich Unger
Now at the Hottest Clubs from Coast
to Coast, it's not "drink it yourself," but now it's "Do It
Yourself."
From SOBE to the Sunset Strip, movers
and shakers now want to pour their own, ice their own and offer their
own......This latest bar craze began in Europe, and as usual sailed over
to the USA.
It's bottle service!
Bartenders put a liter or even a
bottle of vodka, run or tequila in front of a group of patrons, in
addition they compliment it with ice and tongs and an assortment of
mixers.
From Tonic to Soda, from juice to
cordials, Patrons mix and attempt their best Bartender Wanna Be acts, and
serve their friends.
You want to be a player, expect to
pay from $100 and up to be the life of the Drink Mixers.
The upside, is your not constantly
waiting for or signaling a bartender, the downside, you over pour and
spend way more cash flow, than you normally do.
In Chi Town, "Butterfield
8" CO-Owner Demetri Alexander says "it's a smash success,"
personally, I say, if the patron can pay the price, then serve him the D.
I. Y.
But remember, ring it as you bring
it. NO tabs, no charges, no games.
Giving a Patron the power to pour
what they want. When they want is a risky challenge, when you think of
16,000 Dead Americans from DUI Drivers every year.
NOW THE DOWN SIDE, While we are all
in this biz to provide the best in fun, hospitality and service, we are
not in this industry to allow our patrons the power to get totally loaded
and not be responsible for their actions or reactions, when in fact we
chose to serve them the bottle and we chose to allow them to pour
it.................
It's your club, stop being dependent
upon creeps and crumbs to keep it open. Stop turning your head and
your back on what you know is illegal and immoral. Stop operating in
such a desperate and despair mode.
Every time you allow drugs in your
club, every time you allow slobs in with unacceptable conduct, every time
you let a drunk patron drive, you are a loser in this biz and not a
winner. If you can't make money the right way, doing what's right,
then pick up the phone and call me right now....
